  1. reverse the change that broke the Windows Live Mail photo email feature

Sometime after 21 June, a change was made at OneDrive that made it impossible to use the photo email feature in the Windows Essentials mail client called Windows Live Mail. This feature automates the process of sharing multiple image files, or large ones, by uploading them to OneDrive and sending thumbnail images with links to the online files by email. This no longer works, and there is no sign yet of any remedy from any product team.

The problem is described in this forum post:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/livemail-email/photo-email-feature-broken/d90e9b9e-5344-4941-9d40-edb0a9397a99

There are dozens of threads already started by affected users with many Me too…

    • Locate documents, pictures, music, video, desktop, downloads, contacts, favorites, etc user folders within user's OneDrive folder by default

Although OneDrive is automatically set up on a new Windows computer, the majority of the user’s personal files are currently saved to locations that are not backed up, e.g.

      C:\Users\[username]\Documents
      C:\Users\[username]\Pictures
      C:\Users\[username]\Music
      C:\Users\[username]\Videos
      C:\Users\[username]\Desktop
      C:\Users\[username]\Downloads
      C:\Users\[username]\Contacts
      C:\Users\[username]\Favorites
      …etc.

One possible workaround currently is to:

#1) Create duplicate folders in OneDrive called Documents, Videos, Desktop, Downloads, Contacts, Favorites, etc. These will look like regular empty folders without any special thumbnail designation.
#2) Go find your “default” user folders (the ones with thumbnails and files inside) in C:\Users\[username]
#3) Right click these “default” user folders and choose “Properties” > “Location” > “Move” …

      • Reliable IOS Camera Backup

Not all of my images/videos in my camera roll are successfully backed up in OneDrive for iOS even though I have the Camera Roll Backup feature turned on and the status says "up to date".

I ended up having to copy all the images off my iPhone to a PC and do a folder diff with my OneDrive CameraRoll folder. What I found was occasional photos taken between Aug 2014 an Jan 2015 were not present in my OneDrive Camera Roll.

Before manually finding the differences, I was able to visually spot some missing photos in the OneDrive app. I…

        • Bring back static URLs for image files. Currently they change every day.

Prior to the month of May, images files stored on OneDrive had static URLs. "View Original" displayed the image using a static, unchanging URL. You could use it to link images to blogs, forums, web-pages, etc.

Since May, posted images no longer get a static URL; it changes at least once a day. It is no longer possible to link an image to a blog because the link is only valid for less than 24 hours. OneDrive is no longer a viable cloud-service provider for image files.

          • There is no option "public" shown in onedrive anymore, when I want to 'get a link' for sharing a photoalbum. Please help!

I do need your help to make photoalbums in onedrive public (get a link, but no option 'public' is shown) I did up to last week, but not possible anymore.

            • "Share with me" folder should sync to pc's folder

Files shared by person A to person B should sync in a folder in B's computer. There should be a folder "Shared with me" in B's for easier access. This is how it works in most other cloud drives.

              • Really fix Photo background uploading in iOS

I'm running the latest version of OneDrive on iOS 8.3 on an iPhone 6 Plus and this feature doesn't work as intended. Even with background refresh On and the location settings set to Always, I still have to manually open the app for new photos in my Camera Roll to sync to OneDrive. The only thing having Location set to Always gives me is a badge counter of how many photos need to be uploaded. It is never performed automatically. Please fix.

Additionally, I would prefer that automatic photo uploads from my Camera Roll to OneDrive be performed without leveraging…

                  • Bring back placeholder capabilities in Windows 10

The previous entry for this was incorrectly closed.

It's unreasonable to fully sync the actual file contents from the cloud down to my many devices (phone, laptop w/SSD, and even my desktop). This was one of the best features of OneDrive as I could easily control which pieces of content I was storing.

Please re-include local placeholders so that I can do the following:
                    - Locally search all my files (not just photos) from Win32 and W10 apps
                    - Selectively sync individual files to bring offline etc. from Explorer
                    - Have appropriate Win32 and W10 access to all my files…

                    • Loosen up on content allowed on OneDrive -- current policy would ban most users

After hearing about users who had their entire Microsoft accounts frozen without warning and without being allowed to retrieve their data, apparently over files that they'd uploaded (privately) to their OneDrive, I looked into the Code of Conduct again and was baffled by how broad the restrictions are. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-live/code-of-conduct

Taken broadly (which Microsoft apparently is doing, based on previous suspensions) this would prohibit storing TONS of harmless, legal, common content. Given that Office 365 users receive 1TB/unlimited OneDrive storage, presumably we're encouraged to use it as a backup service and transfer much of our hard drive there. I would very…

                        • Support for major ebook formats (e.g. mobi, epub, ...)

                          Hi,

Having the ability to open and read ebooks and documents in various formats straight from OneDrive.com can add more value to this great cloud application and storage.

It is currently possible to open pdf files which is awesome and great; however, opening mobi, epub and other file formats is dependant on client's machine which can be limiting. Adding this feature through an extension or providing it natively through OneDrive Word Documents application can help users to have less dependency on their environment and devices.

                          Thanks a lot. :)

                          • Don't re-download existing files on Windows 10 OneDrive Setup

After installing Windows 10 (wiping the C: drive) I moved my OneDrive location to my existing and up-to-date OneDrive folder on a different drive where it used to be on Windows 8.1.
Now I'm gettig synch errors for duplicate files - though those on the drive are exactely the same as OneDrive tries to download.

Please don't make us download the entiere OneDrive folder every time we reinstall Windows! (This used to work on Windows 8.1 btw http://superuser.com/questions/834667/windows-8-1-move-onedrive-to-existing-folder-after-os-reinstall ).

                            • I want to be able to change the owner so files take up their space

I love OneDrive, I love its features and I don't want to switch to some other cloud provider because I run out of space.

I have the Office 356 subscription for me and my family and, as the techie in the family, I was asked to upload and provide photos and videos for everyone. Which I did, enjoying them on our phones and all...

Now, most of my family's photos and videos are on my account, shared with them. I wish I could make them the owners of their files and folders, before my space runs dry.

                                • Sync pictures Metadata (tags and titles) both ways

Applying metadata (tag and title) to a file on a PC syncs the metadata to the online storage, however metadata applied online does not sync back to the client.

Please fix that. Tags are grate for pictures.

                                  • OneDrive is great, but Sync speed is slow... Please please put more juice into this! Speed is important!

OneDrive is my main synccloud now, using it on WorkPC, HomePC's, Lumia 1520 and more.... But please, syncing is sooo slow. Reinstalled my Workcomputer, and after 2 days of syncing Down files, I only got some 35% of the 30 GB of data....
I've got a 50MB line, so this is slow speed in Your OneDrive.com servers....
So please please, get the speed up to date! DropBox yould fix this within half a day!

                                    • Add the ability to people tag

I would like the ability to tag faces on pictures that have been uploaded to OneDrive. Currently Windows Live Photo Gallery has this ability and is generally really good at guessing faces. Also, Facebook has facial recognition that is about 97% accurate.

                                      My request is:
-add ability to group pictures by people, adding this as an option along the top row, where we currently only see "Photos Albums Tags" right now. Any untagged picture will show in 'untagged'
-add facial recognition to suggest tags for pictures
-make this facial recognition at least as good as that in Windows Live Photo…

                                      • Restore Placeholders in Windows 10

Angus Logan has incorrectly "addressed" this issue.

We are not suggesting different scenarios; Placeholders, as they stood in Windows 8.1 have become ingrained into the workflows of many of your most vocal users.

I've attached a screenshot of the current system in Windows 8.1, and how I personally solve for the issue of "not being able to tell which files are offline." There's no gimmicky icons, or clouds or tick marks, and it is not edited in any way.

Simply group files by Availability by default. BOOM! "Problem" Solved.
This is how simply the issue could have been resolved, at…

                                        • Organize my photos by places

Beside of Photos, Album and Tags, should have "Places" option.
Should integrate with Bing Maps Places and use geotag to organize photos automatically.
If I go to Times Square, should say Times Square. If I go to Zoo, should say zoo, if I have pic from Burger King...
