New sync client must support team sites
Horrified to read this in the FAQ for the new sync client:
"Our focus right now is exclusively on OneDrive for Business cloud sync. We’re still looking at our broader sync strategy for Team Sites and On Prem. The existing sync client for OneDrive for Business will continue to support sync in these solutions."
Sync of team sites is very important. I know several businesses who only use the team site (because they want to share documents).
If you still have to run the old, broken sync client for team sites this is a massive disappointment and means users will still face sync errors, strange error messages etc.
We’ve recently rolled out support for syncing your Team sites (including O365 Groups) and shared OneDrive for Business folders. You can read more here: https://blogs.office.com/2017/01/24/onedrive-brings-new-file-collaboration-and-management-features-to-the-enterprise/ Thanks!

This must be solved, urgently. Clients that have taken the leap with Sharepoint Online are discovering how terrible the current OneDrive for Business sync is and have been holding out for the latest version of the sync client. The announcement of the new sync client was welcome....until the small print told me that Sharepoint Libraries are being left out in the cold.
Wait what... I'd worked out that the preview only worked on the "MySites" document library, but coming here to see that this is the indended functionality for the full client is just crazy.
Aren't buisnesses supposed to be being encouraged to stop using network shares and on-prem sharepoint and to start using Team Sites and document libraries? Our organisation recently changed their folder config to use one central Team Site for client documentation instead of one library per client. The primary reason was that the new sync client could then allow people to choose what they wanted to take on/offline instead of the entire library.
Seems this will need re-thinking. Again.

It's now been 8 weeks that Microsoft announced the new OneDrive client. Still no confirmation on wether SP doc lib sync will be developed. @reubenk remains silent. Unbelievable!
... and sync Office 365 Group file folders, please!

Why sync a team site rather than access the files via the browser? Even with the biggest, baddest sync tool possible syncing a shared repository will lead to issues. Accessing via the browser eliminates these.
Have you tried Dropbox's business option? The sync tool causes governance issues even though it syncs really well.
A well designed team site is much more efficient.
Is this a joke?!! Absolute commercial suicide! Why on earth would you release a ‘new’ sync client (i.e. openly admitted to be a patched version of the consumer product) and then not provide sync functionality to your commercial files?? The only thing that was keeping me sane, due to the amount of time and effort wasted in resolving ‘sync errors’, was the release of a reliable sync tool – and now that doesn’t seem to be the case! Microsoft please realise that ‘OneDrive for Business’ needs to be exactly that, a OneDrive for Business – and not a mass migration to OneDrive consumer!! It is absolutely critical that Team Sites are supported with this sync tool so that organisations can start delivering and growing rather than wasting time trying to share documents across the organisation!

Agree to sync libraries are extremely important. Also sync of Office 365 groups (but these are sharepoint libs) and possible also in the future Yammer content.

Question for Microsoft: How many engineers does Box have vs. how many engineers does MS have? Why is it that MS is completely incapable of delivering a truly finished product these days?

SPSync is a good alternative since Microsoft clearly doesn't realize how important this is. http://spsync.net/
The current One Drive for Business sync tool is just ridiculous the amount of people that must log a ticket everyday with Microsoft must be having a huge impact. Half my day is taken up re-syncing libraries for clients. SORT IT OUT.
If you don't support this feature with the new sync client, I'm taking every single customer OFF of OneDrive for Business and switching to Google Drive. PLEASE Microsoft give us this feature with the new client.

This function of syncing SharePoint site collections is critical for our company. The only reason we haven't moved to a new solution yet is because we can locally sync our whole site collection. Unless the new OneDrive experience will let a whole collection be shared through each individuals OneDrive library, you can not take away this functionality. As it is, I'm extremely disappointed that in Windows 10 Mobile you can not sync the site collection through that app, even though Windows Phone 8.1 let you sync the site collection through the Office Hub. This also needs to be fixed. Thank you for listening.
Its a massive disappointment that sharepoint libraries can't be synced onto MAC computers. It's almost feels like microsoft telling us MAC users that they don't care about us. I use MAC for visual arts and music production, I don't want two machines to work from. Please get this sorted, or my entire company will move to a supplier who can provide suitable share point facilities.
By corporate social functionality I mean "Yammer" what a waste of time and resources when core functionality is still abysmal. The only reason to use yammer is to talk about how much the syncing sucks.
I agree, this is absolutely nuts. This has been a horrible syncing tool for years now. No one is testing user-experience.
WHY IS MICROSOFT WORKING ON CORPORATE SOCIAL FUCNTIONALITY???
CORE BUSINESS IS CRITICAL. THIS SHOULD HAVE EVERY RESOURCE PUT ON IT. UN-BELIEVABLE. Classic, Microsoft. Always just two steps short of glory. One of the most abounded corporations in the world and this can't be figured out. We are trusting you.
As anonymous stated below the current OneDrive for Business Sync Client is embarrassing to have to support for our clients.
The new sync client needs to support team site libraries. Organizations are using these libraries like they would DropBox so they sync all of their company files. Selective sync and a sync that can work without breaking is required.
I imagine organizations will try to use OD4B personal sites in place of team site libraries if it turns out the personal sites can sync without breaking and offer selective sync.
Why does nobody respond from ONEDRIVE on the 60.000 votes of GIVE US BACK OUR STORAGE

Keep thinking about it
Wow, this is shocking to learn. Btw. why stop at doc lib sync? I would very much like to see custom lib sync too. Doesn't have to be a OneDrive thing. Could be an actual Sharepoint app for mobile platforms. Why haven't we seen such a thing yet?

We need to sync SharePoint team site libraries on our Mac OS X devices. Our team of Mac users needs "team" files stored on their local machines. Unfortunately OneDriveDF does not sync SharePoint files.
