New sync client must support team sites
Horrified to read this in the FAQ for the new sync client:
"Our focus right now is exclusively on OneDrive for Business cloud sync. We’re still looking at our broader sync strategy for Team Sites and On Prem. The existing sync client for OneDrive for Business will continue to support sync in these solutions."
Sync of team sites is very important. I know several businesses who only use the team site (because they want to share documents).
If you still have to run the old, broken sync client for team sites this is a massive disappointment and means users will still face sync errors, strange error messages etc.
We’ve recently rolled out support for syncing your Team sites (including O365 Groups) and shared OneDrive for Business folders. You can read more here: https://blogs.office.com/2017/01/24/onedrive-brings-new-file-collaboration-and-management-features-to-the-enterprise/ Thanks!
This is hard to believe. The underlying problem is how horrible the current OneDrive for Business product is. Its almost embarrassing and really unusable. Should we expect that final product to include the full Document library synching in Team sites?
We def need this feature! Without being able to synchronize with SP TeamSites ODB will be totally worthless for us.
I'm also absolutely certain that this request only has so few votes because the preview is only used by a rare amount of people. As soon as current ODB Clients get updated with the new client and this feature will not be available there will be thousands of new votes!
So please Microsoft, add this Feature to the upcoming final Version of ODB!

The New OneDrive for Business have to support Sharepoint Team Site, for our company this feature is important.
It seems like, once again, that MS is punting on the "hard stuff".
In every single organization I work with, from large to small, the notion of a shared, central document repository is key to operations, and these files are used by a wide range of people, many of whom are not sophisticated users and cannot deal with web-based access to files and therefore NEED local sync. (Forget about mapping drives to libraries - that just doesn't work reliably enough to be an option). This is how they are comfortable working - they want files and folders to look like they always have - in native explorer.
So, here we are more than a year into this train wreck, holding our breath for something that works with Team Sites, and now it's not clear when or if it will ever be supported.

We only use the team sites on our company, and with so many sync problems we have to view all our files on the website. I'm sure they'll get it working, this is still early in preview after all, but I do hope they realize how critical it is for some of us. We've been promising our company management that the new sync utility would be released soon and this would be behind us. If this ends up being put at low priority our company may switch from Office 365.
Please upvote this thread if you are one of those people!
The limitations of the current sync client really impact the ability to scale up for large organisation needs in terms of syncing Team Site Libraries.
I hope support for Team Site Sync within NGSC comes soon.
Wow... I'm completely dismayed to discover now here that the new sync client preview doesn't sync documents stored in Team Sites. Why is it called "for business" then??
And why doesn't it support it, isn't OneDrive for business also a sharepoint site, so the underlying technology is the same?
One thing that keeps agitating us now while we use Google Drive for cloud storage is that we just have each our own "drive" and there isn't non-personal, corporate drive, which would be logical layout for a place to keep corporate documents, like we had before the cloud on a corporate file share.
The idea was to switch to Microsoft cloud where we have team sites, which resemble corporate file share logic -- but now, in a brand new sync app, Microsoft ignores the team sites, meaning we can't use them for our cloud file storage solution. Unbelievable.

I agree 100%. Not having the option to sync SharePoint libraries in this new sync client renders this thing almost worthless in the business world.
For those organizations that have a model that stores in one of two locations:
1) SharePoint Libraries - Documents that the company will need if the employee is terminated.
2) OneDrive for Business - Documents that pertain to you that are personal in nature (i.e. professional development forms, mileage forms etc.)
SharePoint is one of the structures that you have over the Google Apps Microsoft, make sure you continue to show it the love and support it deserves.

Absolutely, Alex Woodrow up there hit the nail on the head. I have a team that works on shared documents/reports/spreadsheets in a team site and I'd like to keep those offline with me (as would they). That sync tool is broken hard, so what am I supposed to do now? Store EVERYTHING in my own personal "Onedrive" documents and share it to the team? Do I have to make my personal OneDrive my team's root file storage? Ahh!

I agree that a new sync client which doesn't support Document Librarys in Team Sites is almost useless. The ability to synchronise team site documents to your PC is a must.
I for one also use a separate Document LIbrary in my "MySite", because I don't like the dumbing down of the "OneDrive" section of the MySite, in particular a few abilities:
* Ability to see the Library ribbon
* Ability to see add/see the Version column
* Ability to define views
YES, I hope they do this ." you can ad me to your Several Business List" I actually tried to do this by copying the share link over. It started to work ,then crashed...But this is a MUST have .. I really dont need the new Onedrive for Business If this isn't part of It.
Currently OneDrive for Business Mac Preview version not supporting syncing other users’ OneDrive for Business library and the team site library is causing inconvenience to users.
Would prefer to have an app that support that role like what dropbox is supporting, rather than having to login to the web portal for retrieving shared files and documents.

This decision is basically saying 'Don't use Team Sites' crazy. We have 10,000 important documents I need offline when I'm travelling. The whole OneDrive sync thing needs a white paper to clarify a number of issues - whats the difference between OneDrive in Windows 10, OneDrive for Business (MySite) and OneDrive for Business (SharePoint Online). Ideally I just want the one, but not sure how we can use OneDrive for Business (MySite) as the single location.
OneDrive for Business syncing is terrible for SharePoint libraries. But the consumer OneDrive is very good. Since you have already admitted that OneDrive for Business sync engine is terrible (https://channel9.msdn.com/Events/Ignite/2015/BRK4110), please use the consumer OneDrive engine for syncing SharePoint libraries.
I am using Ahsay Backup software that's the best backup solution has it all real-time archiving, unlimited versions of files, fully automatic, I'm really happy with it. You can also try this. http://www.ahsay.com/jsp/en/home/index.jsp?pageContentKey=ahsay_products_overview&r=1d
Hopefully it will be out soon. My personal OneDrivehas this feature, but OneDrive for Business does not.

Selective sync of folders is planned - see here https://blog.onedrive.com/taking-the-next-step-in-sync-for-onedrive/.
You can sync to drves other than C: but you need to choose to do that when initially setting up the sync. There's an almost unnoticeable link to change the local folder on the initial setup.
in both onedrive 4 biz and team sites, I would need the ability to sync only select folders rather than the whole library!
I want to be able to keep the bulk of the content in the cloud and only sync what I actually beed. Plus collaborators should be able to sync only what they need. Not the whole library which ends up clogging my pc up!
Also it would be useful to sync to drives other than C:
