New sync client must support team sites
Horrified to read this in the FAQ for the new sync client:
"Our focus right now is exclusively on OneDrive for Business cloud sync. We’re still looking at our broader sync strategy for Team Sites and On Prem. The existing sync client for OneDrive for Business will continue to support sync in these solutions."
Sync of team sites is very important. I know several businesses who only use the team site (because they want to share documents).
If you still have to run the old, broken sync client for team sites this is a massive disappointment and means users will still face sync errors, strange error messages etc.
We’ve recently rolled out support for syncing your Team sites (including O365 Groups) and shared OneDrive for Business folders. You can read more here: https://blogs.office.com/2017/01/24/onedrive-brings-new-file-collaboration-and-management-features-to-the-enterprise/ Thanks!
Glad we are finally seeing some movement on this. That being said, the preview build isn't working for me at all. :(
Downloaded the preview and syncing my Document Libraries as I type this. As soon as you tighten up the installation experience for general users move onto placeholders comparable feature!
Jason, we trust you'll do the right thing...

OK, so I just deleted my post. Joel is quite right, but apparently good news came out of Ignite today

Like many of the others in the comments section, the future of my clients file-storing solutions rely on this update. Yet I have heard nothing for the last 6 months.
Jason, I listened to your apology on Microsoft Ignite last year. That is 1 and a half year ago.
It seemed sincere at the time. However it has become painfully clear now that is was a load of *#^!.
If you had been honest then, and said "We have no clue on how to fix this software". I would have accepted it, moved my clients’ files somewhere else. But I believed you, and resynced my customers’ libraries over and over telling them “Microsoft will fix this soon”.
But you didn’t, you kept quiet and when the new client launched in December last year you had removed the most important feature. Without a notice in advance.
Then silence, until April when you gave us hope again with promises of a new client preview in Q3.
And since then not a word. With 4 days left of Q3 I’m still wondering if you will *#^! us over again.
I hope you read this Jason, and greatly improve your communication skills. You/Microsoft can’t keep treating your customers like garbage.

Anyone else think its ridiculous that we are begging Microsoft for a very basic tool that we already pay them for? Every month they get our money and in return we get a broken system and silence.
My users want a sync client that works. My management want to know what our file strategy is going to be moving forward. All I want is a response from Microsoft.
The bar is set so low and still I'm disappointed.

Launching a new sync client without SharePoint support is ridiculous. We moved most of our staff to SharePoint, but they need offline access so we're totally stock with ODB and it's utter ****. If they can't get team site support working soon, I'm going to be forced to move everyone to Box. MS, the clock is ticking and your users are running out of patience.
10 days left for the beta availability, let's hope our pain is almost over!
A couple of weeks since my last comment. Old ODB broken for every employee in the office. GBs of data re-sync'd over and over and over. Just want to make sure Jason is reminded about our pain and spares us a thought from his comfy Redmond office.

Unfortunately MS has been much too quiet about this issue. If you look all over the internet its not a minor issue its really serious and the Top management should have communicated with the user base. They should really have addressed it several years ago, now its getting to the point where many users believe it won't ever be fixed, and its making the MS management look incompetent.
We were advised that team site sync would be added in September, we have a number of upset customers who are about to dump Office365 if this feature is not added by October. It has been a very bumpy road for most OneDrive users.
When would it b possible to sync with team sites?
Thanks in advance,
Hoping this is moving along! I'm hating installing both the new OneDrive sync client and the one that comes with Office (groove.exe) on all my client computers!
Please enter your credentials. Entered! Please enter your credentials. Entered! Please enter your credentials. Entered! Please enter your *$%&ing credentials. *$&%ing entered! I hope no one who worked on this original ODB is still working at Microsoft. I also hope the current ODB team is being forced to eat their own dog food this time.

Please hurry up with the sync issues already with onedrive for business. I'd say I spend 80% of my time supporting the old onedrive for business sync client for our users.

Any news? My end-users are tossing tomatoes at me because of the ****** sync program!
According to the video in the blog post Jason Moore posted, MS has 30 days left to release an beta version of the SharePoint Online document Sync capabilities for the NGSC. They better deliver....before I and many others lose trust in Microsoft.
Microsoft - Just buy Dropbox already. It makes too much sense not to at this point, given the current integration and the fact that you're working on similar features (see link below).
Put your heads together and fix ALL THINGS SHAREPOINT/ONEDRIVE once and for all!
There has never been a more frustrating piece of *%$& software than ODB. If I was still at Microsoft I would prefer to work on DRM than this ****. Today I am dealing with the never ending request for credentials. Have tried all the usual "workarounds" to no avail. Jason Moore, I hope you are still reading these posts and feeling our pain.
At what time, this will be available?
It's a very big issue for a lot of our customers...
I really hope they are working on this as I have multiple team sites that could really use some improvement on the sync process.
