New sync client must support team sites
Horrified to read this in the FAQ for the new sync client:
"Our focus right now is exclusively on OneDrive for Business cloud sync. We’re still looking at our broader sync strategy for Team Sites and On Prem. The existing sync client for OneDrive for Business will continue to support sync in these solutions."
Sync of team sites is very important. I know several businesses who only use the team site (because they want to share documents).
If you still have to run the old, broken sync client for team sites this is a massive disappointment and means users will still face sync errors, strange error messages etc.
We’ve recently rolled out support for syncing your Team sites (including O365 Groups) and shared OneDrive for Business folders. You can read more here: https://blogs.office.com/2017/01/24/onedrive-brings-new-file-collaboration-and-management-features-to-the-enterprise/ Thanks!

What's the latest on this please MIcrosoft @Jason Moore???? Seems we're left waiting in the Dark yet again for something that should've been priority given majority made the move almost 2 years ago on a failed product? You seem to be focusing on the wrong areas in my eyes, allowing intergration with Drop Box, Google Drive, why would these users move away??????

Lets face it Microsoft, the lack of fit for purpose SharePoint library sync. is a total shambles, way behind the curve in thinking and a hugely destructive user experience. Sadly this is costing IT people reputational damage in trying to support you. Way to pay them all back guys. Should and could do better. I work in healthcare in the UK, One Drive is being touted fro use, I will not endorse this as an appropriate solution whatsoever.

MS needs to pull OneDrive for Business and stop pretending they are capable of syncing with SharePoint. They are not.
This sync client is a slap in the face to every IT admin and every IT professional who recommended moving to this platform.
The credential management is a cruel joke. An "Enter Credential" button that does nothing? Users need to sign out, sign in, close the app, blow away stored credentials, re-link the library, remove a service, add a service, restart. Hope you memorized that dance because you will be doing it every single day.
Just about every cryptic sync error message results in a "repair" which is apparently MS speak for clear out every file in the local store and re-download every library from scratch. Hope your users have hours to kill and a smoking fast network connection.
Its obvious that nobody at MS give a **** about the IT professionals who support this garbage application. I just hope that someone thinking about making the move to Office365 reads this and thinks twice.
Still no reliable way to get sync to work. Three "cloud" icons in the taskbar all called "OneDrive" doesn't make for easy support calls.
People want to share documents and sync them to their desktop so they can access them offline.
It's just not that complicated.
I first recommended OneDrive for Business a year ago, mainly as I'd never had a problem with the consumer version. It's the biggest mistake of my IT career.
Just make this happen already. We migrated from Google Apps for Business a couple of years ago and ever since I have heard "Google Drive was so much better" every **** week from our users. The mix usage of Sharepoint libraries through browser/Office apps/webdav (if you want to do the "Keep me signed" in every **** day) is something I have to "defend" all the time. Our users and I know that this can be done better. So just make this happen and for the love of god, make it work.

I'm not sure how MS can be called an EFSS leader and win an award based on their fiasco with OneDrive and Teamsite syncs. O365 is great, but the additional work, cost, embarrassment caused by ODB negates much of the good will. I wish MS would just stop adding various features that add little to our daily work and fix the sync! Our IT development plan has been on hold since January and won't be restarted until ODB is released to all clients.
Ah the joy! Yet another full resync of all my libraries! If I lived within driving distance of Redmond, I'd be camping outside your offices by now
Would love this to be available to the preview release users ASAP.

Any ETA or update on this?
"We’re adding SharePoint Online document library sync, starting with a preview in the third quarter of 2016, with general release by the end of 2016."
This is a slow pace to fill a major omission in this product. Please can you get the preview out asap, early Q3 rather than late Q3? Beta software is better than nothing.

Come MS. Don't wait to add the new sync to sharepoint. Groove is broken. How bad can the new sync client be, even untested on sharepoint when the old sync client does not work. And I mean so bad it is pointless as many have already stated.
Give us a preview to use at our own risk!!!!
Because the risks of running the old sync client are broken sync time and time again, slow sync, unhappy users and the list goes. So what difference does it make.

Why does Jason Moore keep posting this old blog post?! Where is the updates and progress of these changes? I have multiple clients and your team has wasted so much of our companies time trying to work around your awful sync client that we are now deploying other solutions like dropbox. Our mutual clients want to have a cloud solution to sync company files that they work off as a team. When does this come????!!!! How much longer???!!!! ETA???!!!!
END OF 2016??? So we spent money for nothing one year too early... because ATM word "collaboration in group" in office 365 means nothing!
Stop using groove.exe to sync group files - find at least working alternative (box, dropbox, google drive), because with onedrive you will end up with never ending errors and "resyncing" group files from scratch all over again. Microsoft lied to everyone about features of their product, and now they say they will make it at end of 2016... ARE YOU SERIOUS???
Since my last post 6 days ago, I now receive my other favourite "Credentials Needed" error. Despite my credentials not changing and ODB syncing most files correctly. No matter how hard I try, none of the methods to Enter Credentials actually work. I click and click and click but nothing happens. This has happened many times before and resulted in countless hours with CRM support. So Microsoft it is not just costing me ... it is costing you as well. FIX IT! Your truly. Squeaky Wheel.

End of 2016! This is a joke! We are very disapointed. I am sorry to be rude, but you want to have the best business solution for colaboration. This is a basic functionality and the old OD4B sync client is ****. DO IT FASTER!!!
Ah the joy. Just hit my weekly "Can't Sync This Library" issue and forced to manually clear the cache and resync 10+ libraries (GB of data). This is a *$(%ing joke. Microsoft you should be HIGHLY embarrassed. As an ex-employee, understanding MS's review process, it is mind boggling that Mr. Moore hasn't been "moved to a more appropriate role".
Any new news? Where old Groove sync support in new OneDrive for Bussiness?
