Stop randomly opening the OneDrive folder while it is syncing
I moved a large number of files into OneDrive recently and while it is syncing in the background the OneDrive folder is continually just popping up in Windows Explorer no matter how many times I close it. This is very intrusive and annoying as I am trying to do other things. If I leave the folder open in the background it just continually blinks in the taskbar - less annoying but still annoying nonetheless. Please make this stop!
Thanks for reporting. This isn’t expected behavior. Can you please reach out to support? You can do this from the website by clicking the ? and choosing to email support.
Same thing keeps happening to me, its very annoying when I'm playing certain games that require a high APM to be competitive and enjoy. Having the folder window pop up in my face is very annoying.
It's also annoying when it pops up over shows I'm watching, or well, doing anything.
Still there unbelievable!!
Had the same problem of Windows Explorer regularly opening a OneDrive window at least once every day. For me, this started after I upgraded Win8 to Win10.
I found a great answer (and more complete than I'd found elsewhere) in this post:
Maybe this can help others with a similar problem.

July 2019 and One Drive keeps just popping up in File Explorer unexpectedly. I've never used it. Now I'm not using it as a matter of principal. It's bad enough that all the apps make me click through an extra screen just to show me their "cloud" storage every time I try to access a file manager. Now you guys pop up One Drive when I'm doing something totally different and make me close it. Way to make sure the answer is always "NO" Microsoft.
This is certainly not a feature, it is a bug. And searching the web, this bug is not fixed for many years!

one drive folder randomly opening to proudly report that it is synced. Is there any way to prevent this folder from opening? What purpose does this serve? Are people expected to review the synced files every time it opens for peace of mind or something? We only check when there is an important file that needs to be accessed immediately. Not every routine sync that sometimes does not even have any new uploaded files.
Not sure this is the right place, but please fix the Onedrive explorer popups it happens every day, at startup and randomly . Thank you.
yep, this is ridiculous. still keeps happening and obstructing presentations/games etc. unbelievable.
I am also having this problem. Checked the Task Scheduler and there is nothing there that would do it (just the correct OneDrive Standalone Update Task, not the holdover one from Win8 as described by Charlie Arehart).
2019 and the problem is still here! amazing!

This Explorer pop-up is really annoying. Certainly nothing that makes me want to use OneDrive but rather find a way to completely disable it...and I didn't have the old task referenced before as a possible solution :(
FIX That **** **** Opening all the time... You need 3 years to solve this stupid problem REALLY ?? Lazy **** support

This has been happening to me. It has not been fixed?
I just stopped using One Drive and use Google now as this has never been fixed. This is the only solution. Microsoft just keep creating these rubbish versions of other people's programs and then try and force us to use them Bing is a great example of a rubbish one.

This has been happening to me too ever since I've installed One Drive. If this is unexpected behavior, why hasn't Microsoft fixed it yet? Please fix it. It's very annoying and gets in the way of my every day work flow! SO FRUSTRATED!

Happening for me too, for about 2 years now, several times every day. Even pops up during competitive gaming

I find a great answer to this problem (and a more complete explanation of which Windows "task" to disable to stop it, while leaving another to keep it sync'ing) in this post:
Sadly, MS has closed that forum so we can't offer thoughts or thanks there, but it seems the solution people need for this problem.

This happens so often, it's extremely annoying. Why is this still happening!? Stop randomly opening the OneDrive folder! STOP IT!
OneDrive for Business opens a File Explorer window many times a day on top of whatever work I'm doing. The personal OneDrive version which I'm also using doesn't do this.
Most annoying. Still happening.
