Start a new promotion to keep 15 GB + Camera Roll bonus, and THIS TIME, inform EVERYONE through email
ADMINS/MOD STOP MERGING THIS WITH THE OTHER "EXTEND PROMOTION" IDEA. THIS IS NOT TO "EXTEND" THE JANUARY OFFER. THIS IS TO START A NEW PROMOTIONAL OFFER ALTOGETHER!
Apparently there was an offer we could sign up for, till 31 Jan 2016, to keep our 15 GB storage + Camera Roll Bonus. But Microsoft didn't sent any email about this offer. The only email they sent was in April about the reduction. Most of us were not even aware of the offer. It is not possible for everyone to read tech news everyday, and be lucky to find out that post about the offer to let us keep the cloud storage we ALREADY HAVE. Neither were the customers were informed by Microsoft in any way. Blog post is an article to the world, news, media. It is not personal communication or a way to inform existing customers. While it is the responsibility of Microsoft to inform customers, according to the section "4c" of Microsoft Service Agreement ( https://www.microsoft.com/en/servicesagreement ):
4c. Service Notifications. When there’s something important to tell you about a Service you use, we’ll send you Service notifications to the email associated with your Microsoft account or, for Skype notifications, your Skype account. If you authorized use of your phone number for your Microsoft account or Skype account, then we may send Service notifications to you via SMS (text message). Data or messaging rates may apply when receiving notifications via SMS.
Hence, Microsoft should rerun the promotion (start a new one) that lets us keep the 15 GB + Camera Roll bonus. And THIS TIME, inform ALL the customers (not only the ones who will exceed storage after reduction) through email, so those who are interested in this offer, can avail it.
Your move of offering to keep the storage was good, IF only you informed customers about it. Now that people know you put out an offer but informed no one, they're even more mad at Microsoft than before, which you truly deserve, since this was a clear strategy to save your name and blame customers that you did your part by providing the offer but it's customer's fault for not availing it (but whose fault is it for not informing about offer in the first place? Would you do that to a new product/service? Launch it secretly and inform no one?). You highly angered everyone, specially those with slow internet, who spent weeks and months to backup their data on OneDrive.
This is your only way to prevent us from moving over to Google Drive/DroppBox/Box/Tresorit. You've already lost many people with high speed internet who have luxury to move their data to other services easily. Prevent those who didn't moved yet, or we will move too...soon enough.
Oh and we DO NOT want 1 TB + Office 365 subscription which will only last one year.
We’re sorry for the frustration caused by the storage reduction. We know these changes are difficult and that’s why we’re offering the free year of Office 365 Personal plus 1 TB of storage to people who had over 5 GB in their OneDrive at the time of the announcement. If you think we have missed you, please reach out to customer support by clicking the cog on the website and reporting a problem in the feedback section.
The first notification I have received about this is to tell me that my OneDrive is FROZEN? I have recieved exactly ZERO emails from Microsoft about this change, much less about the limited time opt in!! What's this idiocy?
I've resisted Gmail for years because I enjoy Outlook's interface better, but you clearly do not deserve loyalty.
I used to brag about Microsoft One Drive, and how their free 15 GB limit was superb. My wife has been using DropBox for Business and loves it. I am only just now at the point where I need to use the 'free' 15 GB One Drive service that I have had for years. Now I find (VERY belatedly) that I have only 5 GB available, not enough space to back up a phone!
Gee, thanks. Time to go elsewhere.

Bye-bye Microsoft. Your greed at a taking away the camera roll from your loyal fans that BOUGHT YOUR PRODUCTS has lost me as a client forever. I wonder how long it will take Microsoft to realize how bad this decision was for their customer loyalty.
Well I'm a bit late to the game and have only just found out about the, now ended, offer to keep the Camera Roll bonus. I did have an email regarding the massive reduction in storage but don't recollect one about the Camera Roll offer or I would have certainly signed up. I get the feeling that Microsoft have concluded that they've been playing catch up again with cloud based solutions (having missed the original boat) and have pretty much decided that OneDrive isn't really viable against the competition.
"Please reach out to customer support" -You mean the ones that have been trained to do nothing other than offering Office 365 subscription?
You have every right to change your policy, but at least be open and honest. You think this trick can earn you new paid subscribers? Good luck because you just lost one paid subscriber.
Why punish light users by hiding the offer of extra storage from them? They are not the ones hogging your servers and chances are that most of them will never use all of the 30 GB anyway.
You guys are too funny thinking that Microsoft will listen... really hilarious! The only thing you can do is leave en masse, so the additional revenue they get from ads plummets. Only then the "promotions" will come again.
Anyway, moving out to one of the other services that are keeping their promises on storage limits. When Microsoft decides they miscalculated, I'll be back.
free for a year and then what......£60 to store 5.1gb of data.....
Much more than another bad business decision for Microsoft, hopefully they will look back on their original ideas for cloud storage and consider the users who bought into systems knowing they wouldn't be dropped from a great height!
Just stop purchasing Microsoft products! The hidden announcement was obviously a deliberate business decision. They are unbelievable dishonest company.
NO MORE PEARCE-BOT ANSWERS!! GIVE US OUR STORAGE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This thread deserved more than a rote answer. Can we have a real answer by someone besides Mr Pearce please.
They are losing lots of customers. I have an IT company that is part of the Microsoft partner network. I am going to stop supporting Microsoft based on their handling of this issue. It is totally unacceptable how they have failed their users back in November with this dreadful decision and then again when they failed to notify their users of the opt-in offer. I intend to let every one of my business partners know why I no longer support Microsoft.
Changes in service... I get.
Changes in policy... I get.
The stench of deception, disregard, and hubris... unforgivable.
Life's too short to patronize ****** companies. One more lost customer for life.
He closed the topic with no solution.
Just big egos preventing them from going back and doing the right thing.
He knows customer support can do nothing to fix this.
Pearce is being dishonest: Customer support can not and will not opt you in if you were missed.
Mr. Pearce is being dishonest:
I have reached out to customer support more than once to report that I was missed and they did not opt me in, they stuck some additional storage for one year on my account and claimed they did what I requested. When I challenged them they claimed the January offer was only for one more year of keeping your storage.
Mr. Pearce is telling you to reach out to customer support knowing full well that they will not correct this and opt you in. They will just try to give you the Office 365 offer and one more year of storage.
I wonder if the relationships inside Microsoft are as poisonous as the relationships they have with their customers, whom they seem to full on hate.
The real issue for me is how I am being treated by a company that I have stuck with and promoted for so long...
I did opt in in January but customer "support" did not help, instead they patronized with questions like "oh, you wanted to keep the 15 Gb 'forever'"
I also emailed you Mr. Pearce and you did nothing!
I did reach out to customer support they did not help me. They told me the option offered to users to keep their storage which ended in January was actually only good for one more year. Is that true or were they lying to me?
PS don't want your non sequitur Office 365 offer which is only good for one year.
PPS I also emailed you to correct the fact that I opted in and I dis not work. You did NOTHING no response, nada
Really? This is how you handle this matter?
Respect Mr. Pearce, nothing gives us a warmer feeling than being treated like this (there would be an alternate way of describing this, but we should keep this formal).
You sir, might think this is an atomic incident - something with no ties to any further decissions made by those being affected. Well, maybe it is not - it's definitly not for me.
Thank you after all for providing us with a clear message indicating what you and those responsible for this decission take us for.

And they closed it again!!!! Idiots!!! AND WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT DON'T HAVE OVER 5 GB?????? WHAT DO THEY GET, MR PEARCE?? NOTHING!!! GIVE US OUR $#%@#^%#@^%^# STORAGE BACK!!!!!!
