Fake sync folder
Allow a user to set up a folder on their profile that has a bunch of pointers (or shortcuts) to their files that are being stored in their OneDrive, and when a user clicks on that file THEN it will sync/download it to their machine.
Essentially a way for users to see their onedrive library from their machine (not web browser) WITHOUT having to actually sync their entire library (which could fill their HD.)

You can actually do this with Directory Junctions:
But it's not all smooth sailing and when selecting which folders to sync, it incorrectly calculates the amount of space required, also, it doesn't notice updates to the linked folders until you restart.
SyncToy is probably the only reliable solution to this problem at the moment, which means you'd need to move the OneDrive folder from your SSD to a bigger hard drive and then use synctoy to monitor ssd folders.
This would be especially useful on machines (like many at our school) that have small SSDs.
