Remove the limit (20,000) of files that can be stored in OneDrive for Business
There is a hard limit of 20,000 files on top of the file size limit. Please remove the # of file limit.
OneDrive for Business now supports syncing over 20,000 files with our our first release of the new OneDrive sync client. You can go read more about it and other updates at our blog post here: https://blogs.office.com/2015/12/16/onedrive-for-business-update-on-storage-plans-and-next-generation-sync-client/
I've given up and moved to Dropbox - and wow it is good.
No restriction on number of files. Also the upload speed has been great - i've moved all my files onto Dropbox in one day - this took a number of days with oneDrive - and there were no sync problems. - Yes its another monthly fee - but it WORKS!
Microsoft please fix your offering soon - DB are owning you.
What is the point of having unlimited file storage with a hard limit of 20k files? Please remove this limitation so that we can fully utilize your application. I as well as the rest of the world would love it if we could purchase one service and have it suit all of our needs. I hate having to make multiple monthly expenditures to different providers. I bought office365 for the Office apps and email. I wanted to include OneDrive for business but was unable due to this limit. Now i need to go with Dropbox. Microsoft has yet to implement a full fledged "Solution"
Real stupid cloud service I have ever seen.
I am so proud of myself to keep trying to sync, delete, re-sync and delete repeatly because there is no way to fix error deside stop syncing and sync again from begining.
Onedrive for business is my company's serivce toghether with O365 but I subscribe Dropbox now after one year nightmare with onedrive of Microsoft.
Onedrive is the best promotion strategy of dropbox.
I store more than 20k files on Onedrive but I don't have the business version. However, Onedrive simply doesn't work well.
The app is riddled with bugs.
It creates copies of files on its own including 'bouncing' back moved files to their original location while keeping a copy at the target location.
Half of the files will go from green to red just opening them (no saving just opening)
At least once a month it will just quit and not sync anything so I have to start from scratch.
But the deal breaker is the message "Do you want the server version or your computer version?" which forces you to research which version is the most current - choose wrong and your pretty much up a creek.
Now I'm thinking that the 20,000 limit applies to me too and once exceeded, the software bugs out.
I think MS promised more than it could deliver. I just wish they would have been more transparent about their capabilities. At least give us a warning message. Is that asking too much?
Dont include the word 'business' in the name of the product if it is going to include a lame limitation like this one. In today's business world this is plain stuipd
If I could put all my 10 votes against this one item I would!!

This limit is a major drawback for Business customers and explains why many people are not looking to move to OneDrive. Also Microsoft really need to improve the Mapped drive facility for OneDrive/TeamSite, having to login to websites and mess around with trusted sites is just crazy. Please release something like "Zee Drive for Office 365" (thinkscape) so that Drive Mapping just works without all the headaches.
I decided to use Azure Storage and CloudBerry Explorer for my customer instead.
This is ridiculous....
This is rediculous. Ryan back in September you said you didn't have a timeline. We're now in March 15. Have you a timeline now?
This is a horrible design flaw. Honestly this is a scam to call this One Drive for BUSINESS with that sort of limitation. OneDrive has a lot to learn from Drop Box
So has this limitation been lifted. In the beginning stages of decision process on onedrive for business. 250 user network. Need ability to store more than 20,000 per user.
Wish i knew this before paying for onedrive
I'm now seeing my files upload again (I've 39k files) - is this now working?
I have your answer Ryan.. reactivate domains.live.com and rebrand it SBS Office365. This will allow standard OneDrive functionality for everyone except large corporations.
Last I checked SharePoint was never a killer app. The only thing SharePoint is killing is OneDrive For Business and my clientele productivity. Why anyone bet the virtual farm on SharePoint is beyond me.
Recently I test the 20k files limitation and found I could upload over 20000 files now!
Even 20000 files under the same folder.
It means now there are no file numbers upper bound limitation?
20.000 Files is much to small. I have over 1.000.000 files in about 400 GB. So the Limit is not one TB
I was not aware of this limit and I signed up for Office 365 account. I have About 22k files and they only take about 250 gBytes and now I cannot finish syncing because of the file limit.
This is not even a space issue it is a number of files and folder issue. wow.
Was researching OneDrive for use in an enterprise setting. Good thing I ran into this. OneDrive definitely not ready for an enterprise use. Going with other options. Bummer.
20k files is not enough. Can't switch from Dropbox until this is fixed. Also need more depth in folder hierarchy.
