Option to Pause / Resume sync on Windows
Please add the functionality to pause / resume syncing form the icon in the Notification Area in Windows 7. I believe the version of OneDrive for Windows 8 already has this feature.
This feature is essential for me, and I use it frequently on Dropbox. It is ideal when on a slower internet connection, or when I am gaming online and want as little internet traffic as possible.
[Update: merged Win10 into this idea and changed from Win7 to Win10 as this suggestion will apply to both][
We have completed the roll out of Pause functionality for all business and personal users of OneDrive sync on Windows. Thanks again for the feedback.
this has bogged down my new computer so much we can;t get any work done!
I had no idea that this "feature" was not available in Office 365 OneDrive for Windows10, I would have never even thought about subscribing had I known that this, most basic of functions, was not there.

Pause, and start at "XX:XX" - Would be nice!
Went here to post the same suggestion! I was surprised to find out that "pause" was not in here by default.
Mr. Pearce should be embraced that it takes Microsoft so long to implement a feature that is deemed essential by so many OneDrive users! Shame on you.

"Good suggestion"?! This seems like a no-brainer, come on.
LET ME PAUSE!!! It takes up all my upload speed and I have 100 gigs syncing right now! It will take days!

Hi, I would also like to be able to pause for the next x hours. That way I don't have to go back in and turn it back on.
Just ridiculous this feature isn't there. It actually disabled our entire household today, as a 1 GB upload was occurring, and no one was able to do anything as 100% upload bandwidth was being taken by the system (Ondrive.exe).
My 87 year old mother almost went bonkers as she couldn't download her book, read her email, or watch a Jib Jab......
I returned home 2 hours later to find identify the problem.
I don't understand how anyone could see it as a good idea of removing this feature with the progression of Windows 8 to Windows 10...
You HAVE to implement this again, it is such a core function which is making me think twice about using OneDrive now that it lacks it...

Pueden poner otra vez pausa, reanudar es básico.

I am Office 365 user now and using OneDrive 1TB free space came with it, but don't want to continue using OneDrive without its basic features like, offline sync (LAN Sync), Pause syncing and selective sync as Dropbox has it all.
Just do it fast or see your good customers going.
Have a great development ahead.
Backing up this idea for a reason other than bandwidth. The desktop app is buggy as **** and every other day I have to restart it because it becomes stuck on 'syncing' without uploading or downloading any of the new changes, and it never fixes itself automatically. I came to One Drive from Dropbox after 5 years because my 50GB storage bonus was about to expire and they only had a single pricing plan for consumers which offered way more space that I need. It's only after a month with Microsoft's version of the service that I realize how much I took DB's refinement for granted. Pausing and resuming syncing should be a basic task. I shouldn't have to outright close the service every time it glitches and starts syncing forever without actually doing anything. Please, stop "thinking about it" and JUST DO IT.

This pause/resume is basic, it must be done.
I WANT THE PAUSE/RESUME BUTTON!!!
I cannot have skype conversation if there is an upload in progress as onedrive takes all the bandwidth!
Put the option back in WIN 10!!!!

The lack of such basic features like this is painful. It highlights that personal cloud storage is a tick-box for Microsoft, rather than something they want to do well. I'll migrate back to dropbox if I don't hear anything on this in the next few months. Really disappointing.

Let me pause upload, its killing my connection. Why even remove this feature from windows 8 to 10. I will stop paying for one drive.
Ol' Douglas Pierce is still thinking about it, because the longer he thinks, the more money he and Microsoft make from their shady deals w/ ISP's, driving up metered connections. The option was available in Windows 10 when it first launched, then they silently took it away, w/ a lot of other features. It seems that if Microsoft finds something that we like or need, they'll take it away until they find a way to charge us for it. Now I see why everyone's making an exodus from Microsoft.
7 months Mr. Douglas Pearce and you are still "THINKING ABOUT IT"? How come, if this was a feature already available in Windows 8??? How hard this could be?
Allow Pausing of OneDrive from the task bar as it used to be done.
I can't use onedrive without the pause feature. Some programs (Microsoft Visual Studio, InstallShield) don't play nice when compiling during a sync so I would always pause Dropbox while doing these operations and then resume when finished. Also, I need to pause while on low bandwidth metered connections. It seems like this is going backward.
