Option to Pause / Resume sync on Windows
Please add the functionality to pause / resume syncing form the icon in the Notification Area in Windows 7. I believe the version of OneDrive for Windows 8 already has this feature.
This feature is essential for me, and I use it frequently on Dropbox. It is ideal when on a slower internet connection, or when I am gaming online and want as little internet traffic as possible.
[Update: merged Win10 into this idea and changed from Win7 to Win10 as this suggestion will apply to both][
We have completed the roll out of Pause functionality for all business and personal users of OneDrive sync on Windows. Thanks again for the feedback.
I need "pause" - simple as that. This is such a basic feature. Come on guys, make it happen
just bring this back. It was there once and it really made sense for many reasons. Closing the app and reopening isn't really convenient.
Yep...just another voice asking for the pause feature to be reinstated...you had it working once guys..come on !!!
It's a week I'm trying to upload a big file. Everytime I've got to quit because life is life... DO THAT PAUSE UPLOAD FUNCTION!!!!
The ability to pause the sync is essential to my continued use of OneDrive and Office 365.
Come on, this is over one year old idea!!! Can't be that difficult to make!!!!
My GOD!!! So my one drive stop syncing online and i cant for the life of me get it to start back. I have searched and searched and searched. Good grief...it should not be this hard.
Stop hiring highschool kids who have no idea around a computer.
HOW MANY REQUESTS DOES IT TAKE TO ADD A SIMPLE FEATURE TO PAUSE UPLOAD.
THIS FITS THE DEFINITION OF ********!
As often on low B/W (yes, also in germany!) this feature is essential.
Microsoft, you can offer a smarter solution than to Shutdown OneDrive when I need the B/W for something else - yes you can!
If I would be able I would give more than my 3 votes!
I just recounted and I am off by one week. I am already making mistakes which means I will be the perfect candidate for your organization!! It's actually been 29 weeks (7 months, 1 week) since anything has been done towards this issue. IT MUST BE A DREAM TO WORK THERE AND NOT DO ANYTHING!!! CAN I WORK THERE PLEASE?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I AM A TOTAL SLACKER, MISTAKE-PRONE, SHOW NO PASSION FOR SOFTWARE AND LOVE TO COLLECT A PAYCHECK!!!
I WILL THEREFORE FIT IN PERFECTLY!!! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Is it fixed yet? And also, are you hiring? I want to get paid for thinking about critical, obvious features for 7 months (!) at a time, without actually doing any of the work that I am thinking about.
So the team is still thinking about it, since last July. It's time to resume from pause mode guys!

I like to have the function to pause syncronising of OneDrive for Windows 10 (as there was on Windows 8.1).
No kidding, how is this not fixed yet? Uuuuugh

I want to give you money. I'm an iOS user, an Apple fan and I'm willing to ditch iCloud to use *shudder* Microsoft products. Your cloud option with Office 365 is fantastic. But, without the pause button, My 140GB of files will really hurt. Please add this soon. My credit card is itching.

Windows 10 Version 1511 Build 10586.63 missing pause option for OneDrive. Please reastablish this feature. Further please add option to limit bandwith used by OneDrive. Will be highly appreciated! Thanks

To add to the voices and add another example of when this would be useful - I just ran into an issue where I had added some large files to onedrive upstairs on my desktop PC which have been synced to the service. Some hours later, I was downstairs and wished to stream a Youtube video to my TV from my Surface Pro, but I found the video was having a lot of issues both with buffering and with audio-video syncing. It took me a number of minutes to work out what was going on until I finally realised OneDrive was downloading the large files in the background, and between OneDrive downloading, youtube streaming to the surface, and the surface streaming to the TV, there just wasn't enough bandwidth for everything and they were getting caught up on each other.
Of course, the solution here is just to wait, but it's annoying to have to wait half an hour for OneDrive to finish its thing so I can watch videos. A pause / resume option would be much nicer, as I could pause the download to free up the bandwidth for higher priority things. In this case it was only entertainment, but this could just have easily been some important Skype conference call for say a business deal that it interfered with.
Hopefully this simple idea will make it in an update in the not-too-distant future, as something so simple could improve OneDrive's usability massively (and would for me make it the perfect cloud storage program)

Onedrive seemed like such a good service, until I started uploading my photos and music - now it looks like I can't use my internet connection for the next month. I may have to switch my desktop pc off and on to control bandwidth usage - that's crazy.
