Remove the check marks for synced files
Remove the check mark for synced files. It should be blank when synced, not a check mark like in this photo. This is from Windows 10, the looks of synced files like windows 8 (without the check marks) is what I want.
Thanks for the suggestion. Just being transparent that we’re unlikely to change the model in the near future.
Agreed. It's very difficult to identify the file type and requires scrolling across to the file type column. This is slowing down my work instead of speeding it up. Clear example of a software designer that isn't an end user.
AGREED - required to install OneDrive at work and what a mess. Those checkmarks are in the way, and I can't tell what type of file type it is.
It sounds so silly, but I will be removing all unnecessary files from OneDrive b/c of the stinkin' green check mark! :) It drives me nuts, and I'm not really all that OCD. I understand its importance, but maybe the opposite could be the case - you get notification with a small white x on a black or red circle if the file didn't sync? That way you'd still know whether your file was synced, but for the most part you'd not have to deal with a notification icon.
Yes, I agree with this feature request
Will try the registry hack for now...
Yes, the green tick is clumsy and seems inappropriately positioned. If you have a slight eyesight issue as I do the position of the green check (which is the real issue) obscures the file type (e.g.over the W of word file). This should be an easy fix for update to have an option to either remove the tick or better yet to reposition it to the left rather than on top of the file icon.
I must have pressed ;something by mistake as now I can not use my photo files to send my pictures to friends & family Have tried a few things folk have suggested but no luck at all
I don't use the Cloud i is a pain in the neck & being elderly just can't sort it
Would prefer NOT having the Cloud at all
In the W10 file explorer the green checks make it impossible to see the exact type of the file when viewing a detailed list. Please, give an option to turn off the green thick feature or use tick only if the file out of sync.

I am going to stop using onedrivr all together because I can't tell the difference between word and excel files. This is horrible!

PLEASE REMOVE, I CANNOT DIFFERENTIATE FILE TYPES

I don't like the way the green check mark obfiscates the file type icon in detail view. In other words.. with the check box covering the image.. word, excel, visio all look the same.
You have an awesome feature in PowerPoint where the icon displays the first slide. I use this all of the time to identify files. When the green check is present I can't differentiate between files.
Please remove the green check marks for synced files. We only need exception reporting. Let me know if it isn't synced or in the process of syncing. By default if no check mark is present I know the file is synced. Or even better use a different overlay that doesn't cover the Icon. Maybe use a colored outline around the icon.

I would like to add my voice to those who want the checkmarks removed. If you polled people, I would bet most people would want them removed. Give people what they want please.
Also - two years later, tons of comments here asking for this, and just a flat "no, we won't do it" from Microsoft. What do you have to lose, other than confused and inconvenienced customers?
Unfortunate that there's an unwillingness to change this. The large green check marks are placed in the exact spot on the file icons that also indicates the type of file. As it is, the icons of all files may as well be identical when you're using OneDrive. Very poorly though through.
REMOVE THE GREEN CHECKMARK OR MAKE IT SMALLER!

You got 120 votes of people that are wasting the time coming here, and say NO??? What kind of program manager are you?

The green checks when viewing files in a detailed list make it impossible to see the file icon itself. Please, please, please, at least give us the option to turn off this annoying feature!
OK - but can you position the tick on the top left or bottom right or make it tiny so it does not obscure the icon's distinguishing type of file? Otherwise why have a distinguishing icon???

Super Simple.... Default it to YES, give me the F*****ing option to say NO

The marks on small icon/detailed/list are too large (for the icon size) and obscure key detail of the icon (e.g. the x,w,n on Microsoft files).
Could the mark be scaled with icon size?
