OneDrive for Business - Implement shared folder syncing to desktop client
We need the ability to sync folders that have been shared by another Onedrive for Business user with the desktop client. You just rolled this out for personal OneDrive, but it seems like it's more important for Onedrive for Business.
We’ve recently rolled out support for syncing your shared OneDrive for Business folders and Team sites (including O365 Groups). You can read more here: https://blogs.office.com/2017/01/24/onedrive-brings-new-file-collaboration-and-management-features-to-the-enterprise/ Thanks!
As I can understand this is not really "BOOM! IT'S DONE". Based on the link provided by Jason on the comments below is more like a preview version. When the normal version will roll out? Also a huge concern is that if this feature falls into the SharePoint limitations (especially the 5000 items sync limit)?
Is that only for PC right now?
You just need to wait for some time. If your users is a global admin and if you still do not have access to the 'admin.onedrive.com' page then it's just an missing update issue. Once the update is rolled to that farm where your tenant resides you will get access to the admin page as well as you should be able to sync content.
I have the same problem. When I click on Sync icon in shared folder I get pop-up window where is button Sync Now. After clicking it, nothing happens.
I did the steps in document Enable users to sync SharePoint files with the new OneDrive sync client, did registry entries update and restart OneDrive and it is the same.
I have last version of OneDrive.
When I want to go to admin.onedrive.com I get Access Denied page with message, I am not admin and I need to log in with admin user. I have contacted our IT Department and they said, they don't have admin users, and that every user for Office365 (OneDrive) they have opened is admin.
Could you please advice me, what should I do next or, who is our admin.
Thank you and best regards,
Hi All - We've seen some folks run into roadblocks below (sorry about that!).
There's a key pre-requisite to syncing your team sites and shared folders. It must be enabled by the tenant admin. (Why? While we've just shipped the software, we want to be thoughtful about how admins roll this out).
You can read specifics about how to setup the preview that will enable you to try it out, or how to enable it for your tenant, right here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Enable-users-to-sync-SharePoint-files-with-the-new-OneDrive-sync-client-22e1f635-fb89-49e0-a176-edab26f69614
ok, all updated, looks good. When I select folders to sync....no shared with me folder. Am I missing something?

What sort of convoluted process do I need to do to get this to work?
I had a co-worker share a folder with me in OneDrive.
I checked that the folder shows in my OneDrive under "Shared with Me" on the web site.
I made sure my OneDrive app is fully updated.
Performed a sync. Nothing.
Waited three days. Still nothing. None of my shared files or folders are there.
This is all I should need to do. This is the common sense approach. What sort of weird engineer hoodoo must I do for this to work?
Şahin Boydaş - Please do follow up with support. We'll make sure to get you connected with an engineer who can debug and get you sorted.
Before we trial it could people please confirm if this is really working on Windows 10?

you are a bunch of literal retards lagging far behind the rest of the world
OMFG ..... I don't believe it... almost 3 years later!!!! @Jason Moore, you should still be fired for your incompetence and lack of communication! Now the question is will it work?
I don't think Microsoft have any intentions of making this feature possible in OneDrive for Business. The lack of response from Jason Moore or any of the Microsoft team is embarrassing. Please Jason can you provide a realistic timescale, or put us out of our misery and let us know if this is going to happen or not. I wait with bated breath
Unbelievable, I agree with previous posters - ludicrous not to be able to share a folder within an organization for office 365 pro users.
Then again, it may be a blessing as I do not experience syncing conflicts with our DropBox and google drive accounts. The same can not be said for Microsoft onedrive and outlook for that matter.
Will migrate away from microsoft at end of subscription period.
Between this and Windows 10 fiasco (no I did NOT nor will NOT downgrade to Win10) Microsoft never fails to disappoint .
DropBox is rock solid, How difficult can it be for MS to emulate their features?
this is cloud storage and file sharing 101. this product should never have been released without this function. i don't think you realize how many customers you are losing to dropbox and google drive because of this.
can you please give us an update on this? the end of the year has come and gone. i too am about to take our entire organization to dropbox.
Figure it out.
Nothing else should matter as much as this Microsoft! This is a baseline feature that is to be expected in a paid for version of OneDrive!! This is even more annoying than being unable to rotate pdfs in Onenote - and trust me, that is saying something!
Oh dear, when will this shared folder function comes a reality?
This is almost like 4 months ago!
I still have to cling to Google Drive or Dropbox as long as OneDrive doesn't have this!
Jason Moore, can you please tell me when this will be finished. I need to make an immediate decision about what to purchase, and I can't wait several more months for this to be done. The fact that this is not clearly advertised in the onedrive for business documentation is disingenuous at best.

After been waiting for two years I have to decide if we order google Drive or Dropbox. I believe the only reason for this dealy is to force users to buy Sharepoint GBytes .
Why dont Microsoft increase Sharepoint space for free up to get this feature working?
