Sorting
I find the sorting in this app hard to use. Id like to be able to sort by date created. Also, it would be great to be able to choose a date for an album. I have recently been creating loads of albums with my photos and the date I made the album is not necessarily going to be the same date as the event I've created an album of. Id like to be able to choose a date, in which the event happened, so albums sort in a logical order.
Cheers

Add timeline to Photos View for quicker navigation
At the moment its difficult to scroll to a particular date of interest. It would help if a timeline was available to speed up this process. For example see timeline on the left of the page in new (as of May 2015) Camera Roll in Flickr.

Slow download speed.
I have 1888 pictures and it's taken 24 hours to get to number 464. The wifi is strong here so that couldn't be the problem. Faster downloads speed.

Add the auto tags back to source source files (my offline copies)
The auto tags feature is great!! I love it so much, I would love it to actually write those tags back to my offline copies of the files so that as I work with them in Lightfoot, WLPG or, really anything but onedrive.com, that same metadata is available.
This would need to be configurable on/ off as I'm sure some people don't want you messing with their pictures.
This supports the idea of truly portable files that are the same no matter where or how I look at them.

Support for newer Canon .CR2 RAW format
Up till now I have been able to get viewable tumbnails and fullscreen of my pictures taken with Canon 600D in RAW format .CR2, when using the webinterface and onedrive app on windowsphone.
Now, I changed my camera to Canon 7D mark II which is using a newer/other version of .CR2 RAW format and no tumbnails or fullscreen picture is available in webinterface or app on windowsphone.
Please upgrade server to support this newer/other version of the Canon .CR2 RAW format.
I am looking forward to be able to see my newly taken pictures again.73 votes -
It would be great if there was a Tag management functionality. That would sum up all current tags, let you delete tags manage tags better.

sort pictures by the date when it was taken and not by date of the upload
in my smartphone the pics are sorted by the date when it was taken. After an upload to onedrive the pic are sorted by the date of the upload.

Lightroom Integration
I'm storing all my photos (raws) in OneDrive. Enable a mechanism to sync keywords (or tags in OneDrive terminology) with Lightroom.
Since differential sync isn't supported on OneDrive I have to keep the database on DropBox.

Map view of photos
Other competing apps have a map view of photos. I know that geotags are copied from my iPhone camer to the OneDrive photos, so why doesn't OneDrive allow for a view of all my photos on a map? OneDrive photos tries to create this view with folders of "Photo Places" but that simply falls short.
I actually pay for an upgraded storage level so I can store all my documents and photos in OneDrive, but am strongly considering leaving for Google due to this lacking and wonderful feature. When will this be added?63 votes -
shutterfly
I would love to be able to upload directly to shutterfly. I can't access my pictures right now without downloading each picture individually.

OneDrive Albums
PLEASE, make it possible to disabled the automatic option of making galleries or albums from my photos. It is really frustrating. I wish to turn it off and I can't. If you have such option one should be able to control if he wants them or not. You can't just force it on me to automatically make weekend albums or whatever.

Apple "Live" Photos formatted on OneDrive
Photos taken with iPhone 6s/7 camera are "live" photos that move when you hold down on them. It would be great to save them in that format to OneDrive! I don't want to store some since they will become still photos on OneDrive :(

iOS app should support Live Photos
This seems natural to include in a future version. I'd like for OneDrive to include the live photo versions of all my photos so I can stop paying for iCloud so I don't miss out of these features. I have amazing clips of my friends and family and special events and the live photo captured the special moment perfectly. I have already lost too many of these moments since OneDrive stripped that functionality.

Add Native Support for Living Images, Cinemagraph, Refous, Microsoft Blink, Lumia Moments, Rich Capture
Lumia devices are well known for their ability to take incredible images. Innovative features such as Cinemagraph, Refocus, Lumia Moments, Rich Capture and Living Images allow to capture our special moments in new and engaging ways. The problem arises when we try and share these images. The recipient only gets the still image and not the innovate functionality that we have built into out device.
The solution for this is to add native support for these innovative imaging features to OneDrive. Thus when I share an album with Living Images via OneDrive, all the recipients can experience the moment as…49 votes -
Upload Speeds
Increase upload speeds as they are still not on par with the likes of Google

Destination Folder For Photo Uploads
When turning on Camera Uploads please allow the end user to specify a OneDrive folder name where the photos are uploaded to. This should be done in the iOS app or Android app so that each device can have separate folder.

Automatically Rotate Images
I use the OneDrive app on iOS to upload all the photos I take on my iPhone. I then use that folder on a Windows 7 PC for my desktop background. For some reason, the image rotation data does not come along in the same way it does when I download the pictures from my iPhone with Windows Live Photo Gallery. Thus, many of my pictures on the desktop slide show are not rotated properly.
