Allow any folder to be synced
Currently if you want to sync files they must be saved to \users<username>\OneDrive. This is way too limiting!!! Need to be able to define any folder in any path to be a synced folder.
Understand the request, but there are no plans for this at this time.

If you want us to use OneDrive (and charge us for the extra storage), make it really useful! Step one is being able to have ANY local folder mirrored to OneDrive. Step two is giving us some way to move our OneNote Notebooks to someplace other than the root of OneDrive's Documents folder, which conflicts with non-OneNote folders of the same name. This really seems like it should be a basic Windows feature, to me. (Oh, and backups to OneDrive would be nice, too. Just Sayin'...)
3 years and this feature, basic feature not there, wow
I can't understand why OneDrive doesn't have this function. I ended up buying MegaSync instead.
It's been 2.5 years since Ryan's comment. Any update?

Deal breaker!!! I am sticking with DROPBOX which is seamless and simple.
+1 to your suggestion. Would love to just simply right click any folders that is not the main four and just click auto sync and viola!
You don't got me I got you commented
Not being able to do this is a deal breaker for me. Looking to switch from Evernote and SugarSync into OneNote and OneDrive. Not being able to do this kills it for me.
I've been trying to figure out how to do this for the past hour just to find this post. Why is a basic function like this not there? I just want to choose a folder to sync to OneDrive without having to copy it to OneDrive folder all the time.. Back to dropbox.

This is one of the most important features IMO. Many of us have big external hard drivers, and it's unrealistic to add every single file to a one harddrive in order for us to be able to save our data.
Is there any update on this one? It's 1 year old, maybe you guys could reevaluate it.
I would also request this feature to be enabled.
I currently run windows off a smaller but faster SSD. The most frequently used files are stored on the same drive.
However, my photos, music, and videos are on a larger harddrive. I would love to be able to sync all my files onto OneDrive.
Otherwise, I'm forced to use an external harddrive as my backup solution - not ideal.
This should really be re-opened. Using the workaround of symbolic links but it introduces other problems.
I found this file SkyshellEx, it will do the trick for now, didn't test it though, i'll update.
Another service we pay for but not using.
Hello anybody home?
They don't allow us to vote for this request as well.
Sorry Microsoft, but this time you are totally wrong, and at least change the status to Think about it.

I agree. All my data folders: Documents, Pictures, Music etc. are not in their default location.
I keep them all on a separate drive.
This is a standard Windows feature, (By right-clicking on folder and then selecting "Location" tab).
I find I cannot sync these folders now they are in a different location.
Am I missing something?
Can anyone help me?

that would be a major differentiation, good for business! why not add it? just imagine how handy it is, if you can sync your desktop folder. imagine you log in to your office, wait 20 seconds and all the messy desktop for your works starts to sync, back from your late night work on your home PC!
I don't any logical reason for the feature not being added after 2 years.
Still not working... Come on! Why is it hard to introduce a feature users are actually asking for?
