Shorten link by default
When I generate a link to share a file, I'd like this link to be automatically shortened.
OneDrive's URL format is ugly. When I paste it in some places, they are not fully parsed and converted to links (just a portion of the URL is converted). Or I want to tweet it.
I think every time I use the option to generate a link, I want to copy it and paste somewhere else.
In this case, the generated link could be shortened by default.
Hi, everyone. You should be seeing shorter links by default in the sharing dialog now. Please check it out and let us know what you think.

As a workaround solution, simply go to bit.ly, paste your long OneDrive link and get a shortened 1drv.ms link. You can even monitor the click activity on your links.

Yet again users' wishes are not considered in a so-called improvement. This happens so often nowadays with tiresome and frustrating regularity. Fortunately, we users do have so many other options and judging by the comments here, will be adopting them if you don't think about us.

I miss this feature and i know they removed it because of "security reasons" but OneDrive should just give you a warning that short links are unsafe and we can continue to use the feature if we want. The shorten link feature is very handy in a lot of cases. I guess for now i'm just going to have to make goo.gl or bit.ly links until OneDrive brings this back.

Just stop your incessant whining about the shorten links, they WILL NOT Put it back because it is a security risk, and they don't want to hear your whining if some hacker haked into your gear and stole your files or uploaded files to your drive without your knowledge and have the cops come to your door thanks to an "Anonymous tip".

.....why bother to take away the Shorten Link feature..... it was already there and worked GREAT...... ever hear the old adage....IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT!!....... -should really think about that for a while before you implement such a change in the future.......OR... PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY you would ever want to get rid of the short link....

If One Drive had any advantages over google drive, the link shortener was one of the few. Please bring it back.

Without an option for shortened URLs, this product is stupidly useless.

I have put the shortened links in my PowerPoint files to give students a simple access to the course material - even with the short links a few people managed to produce typos - with the current urls I can forget putting the address in my slides and in the end I can't use SkyDrive aka OneDrive anymore. Sad.

I was searching for why MS removed the shorten link function and I found that it is due to security concern. Hopefully MS can find a way to make it secure yet still convenient.

If other platforms can have we should be able to have it here. It would be nice if we could customize it too. Please add this to the OneDrive for Business side too.

OneDrive forum and I can't sign in with MS Account?! It is as peculiar and idiotic as the removal of short links functionality.
