Sort photos by date taken not date created in OneDrive
When sorting photos by date, the app sorts by date file was created in OneDrive as opposed to the date when the photo was taken.
When looking Photos menu, it list files by upload date or date created in OneDrive, from the user perspective, the date uploaded to OneDrive it's absolutely irrelevant.
This has been around since before 2015, isn't it time to change how Photos menu lists the content or at least give user the option to choose?
This bug defeats completely the Photo menu purpose, the one place to see all your mixed by date pics!
I just stopped syncing my photos to onedrive. Fortunately I have all my photos on Synology, Stack.
I really cannot comprehence why Microsoft doesn't fix the issue.
This is ridiculous. Did I just lost important data? How difficult can it be do take the informaton from file info and allow us to sort the pictures as it should be? come on
Omg, I am really considering to switch from onedrive. How can such a easy fix be ignored??? Issue since 2015 and still not fixed. Impossible to use this cloud service for visual content.. 💩💩💩

Also, to everyone below:
1) OneDrive has separate DateTaken field in file metadata, it just needs to be used. And in my case, it seems it is, for Photos.
2) OneDrive has FileSystemInfo metadata, including the FS-level DateModified field. Again, it just needs to be used. And it is(!) used in Web UI. Just not in Android app for videos.
And those saying anything on Dropbox below - guys you need to uninstall it immediately. I caught them once changing system settings without any consent. So you just can't trust them.

OneDrive tech support directed me to vote here (ticket #2118142). Though in my opinion, this is not a new feature request. It's a bug in Android app because the Web UI sorts everything as expected. Apparently, judging by this https://onedrive.uservoice.com/forums/913528-onedrive-on-the-web/suggestions/8058816-microsoft-needs-to-fix-onedrive-so-that-files-refl?page=2&per_page=20 they have added some fancy logic there on the Web side within last 2 years. Android app just need to have the same logic ported.
Sorting on the Android app is problematic beyond Date sorting. If you try sort files A-Z it will file items labelled 1,2,11,19 as 1,11,19,2

In other photo storing apps, I scroll to the date of an event to find the photo I'm looking for. In OneDrive, this isn't possible. There's no way I want to look at every single photo. Even the tagged files don't seem to help with this problem.

Please, can you add sorting fotos by date of taking in android?
Since when companies fix apparent bugs only when the users make eneough noises...
...think again, maybe this is common in United States.
It's nuts, fix it.
They need to fix this, as soon as possible!
I have nearly 30,000 photos so really long to manually do it
onedrive is garbage if i can't scroll back in time
Please fix it! The portion of OneDrive service is useless unless this simple problem is addressed. Every other cloud storage service has done this right. I cannot believe that it is too much of a challenge for Microsoft.
This is really important to me.

Is there a solution to this yet?
This is so frustrating that videos goto unrelated date. No point in backup without create date.

Please copy the Dropbox function on this. When dropbox uploads my photos from Android it automaticly generates a filename with the date and time when the photo was taken.
For example my DJI app names files to org_4c40a7eacb72b975_1577974630000 for example, but when dropbox uploads it, it renames it to: 2020-05-19 19.15.45.jpg
This is what most ppl want I would think, there is a reason Dropbox did this. Im about to quit dropbox totally but this feature will be missed.
Give us an option to "rename files to date and time created when uploaded" or something like that.
Also, please give an option for Onedrive to sort them into same folders as we have on our phones. For example, Screenshots will get into same name folder on onedrive, camera in camera etc etc.
The feature is already on the web so how difficult can it be to integrate into the app!"?!
I will modify the original request slightly -- OneDrive needs to preserve the created date and modified date when uploading pictures (any files actually) from ANY device. This is a problem on Android, Mac - not sure about Windows - the files were NOT created or modified not he date they got to OneDrive! And it prevents all of our company from using the service in O365 - we pay extra for Dropbox!
