OneDrive app on iOS changes photo filename upon upload
Comment: Using my iPhone and the One Drive app. When I upload a photo to my OneDrive account from my iPhone using the One Drive app - the file is renamed from IMG5336 (as it is on my phone) to something like this - 20160618170407039iOS.jpg. However, when I upload a photo to OneDrive using the built-in photos app it will show up on OneDrive as IMG5336. Why does the OneDrive app rename the photos?
Talking to OneDrive support, they need to upload images with unique file names to guard against duplication. This make it impossible to correlate between other applications and storage media that may use the original image number.
My suggestion then is to append the original number (5336) at the end of the "random" file name created by OneDrive, so that users can still find images across various platforms.
with this suggestion the created file name would be 20160618_170407039_iOS_5336.
This would satisfy th OneDrive team and many of us users
Same problem and work around?
