Improve the PDF annotation experience on iOS
-updated title -
The annotation / editing toolbar used to be blue, movable, and convenient. Now it looks like it came straight out of Windows 95 and has very limited functionality; e.g. you can no longer create two parallel pens and switch between them. Especially on the iPad Pro this is a huge loss and I don't see how this is a change for the better. Please bring the modern toolbar back!
We hear the feedback and working hard to address and improve our PDF annotation editing experience.
We’ve made several updates to the PDF experience the last 3 months. Including:
-Saving pen style preferences
-Apple Pencil usability updates
-Toolbar UI update
-Free text annotations
-Saving the position in a PDF
The team is continuing to work on improvements to our PDF annotation experience and are working on a UI refresh we plan to roll out in the coming months. I’m resolving this one for now, but if there are other specific requests in this area please open new suggestions.
If Microsoft is really working on this, why isn't there an update?! Just roll this back! Even with the latest updates, it looks like a kid's handwriting, the eraser deletes entire words, what is going on at Microsoft?!
Agreed. I loved the previous version of this. It was by far the best .pdf markup experience in any drive (onedrive/dropbox/box/google). Please return previous functionality
I still can't use the annotation tool bar. Doesn't show up. Works on an older version of the app on one of my iPads that I refuse to update so I can continue to annotate PDFs.
Kinda works on my iPhone but who wants to edit a PDF on a phone when you have a pad? PLEASE FIX!!!
I would like to have the option of opening multiple tabs within the pdf in onedrive. PDFexpert provides that capability and I was wondering if onedrive is going to allow me to do that in future

Agree with all below, I am using a 3rd party tool now to annotate. Apple Pencil does such a poor writing, this really seems to be a tactical product decision.
These updates and "fixes" are literally a joke. It seems each one limits PDF editing more and more. We have lost nearly ALL ability to annotate PDF's from the Onedrive App. Our company just fully migrated to utilizing Office 365 and Onedrive. We have all surfaces in the office but MUST use iPads in the fields, now we are borderline crippled and have to use a 3rd party app for all our PDF's. Come on Microsoft, try giving a darn about your customers.

In addition to the annotation, the zooming in and out is very slow and sometimes the application closes.
People use your brain, there is only one explanation to what is going on here with the onedrive pdf annotation tool on the iPAD. Microsoft does not want you to use iPADs, they rather wants you to use their new Surface machines, hence they purposely sabotaged the onedrive pdf annotation tool on the iPAD. There is simply NO OTHER EXPLANATION. The onedrive pdf annotation tool has been SABOTAGED, there is no question about it. From an excellent tool it became a horrible tool. Do you think the Microsoft team working on this tool does not know it? do you think they are idiots? the entire Microsoft team working on this tool would have been fired in a second for destroying this tool as they did, if this was not PURPOSEFUL. Remember my words, this tool will not get fixed. This is a purposeful sabotage to sway you away from Apple iPAD toward the Microsoft surface machines.
For all those who can't annotate pdfs anymore try updating your iOS. That "fixed" my issue in that it gave me the new limited annotation function everyone is complaining about. While this is better than nothing, it is certainly a huge step back from what we had before. But it's better than nothing.
Agree completely with this request. Why did you get rid of the two pens? The new highlight function can't actually highlight anything but text - the free drawing version before was so much better.
Also, why we are limited to ten colours now where before the colour palette was virtually infinite?
Finally, what happened to the ability to draw lines, shapes, arrows, strikethrough and underline? How does removing these features IMPROVE the app? The reason I preferred OneDrive to Good Notes was precisely because of all this extra functionality. I'm so disappointed to have gone back to the dark ages.
And yes, the lag is dire.
Thank you very much for putting 'Define' function back with the newest update!!
Could you also put the 'Speak' function back?
If there is anyone in Microsoft who care about this product, please just take an apple pencil and try to draw something and see how much the ink lags behind the pencil. Please fix this!!!!!!! it was perfect before. I understand that we'll have to live with this ****** new design, but at least fix this horrible lag issue!!!
From a business perspective, it is appalling what you just did. A good tool replaced by an app that a kid could’ve written. leaving onedrive for something that actually works

Wonder why OneDrive lost it

The nice blue bar that used to be there in OneDrive is now on another app. Like ditto. It’s called pdf pro 3.
The old tool bar was excellent: Easy to use, to move and super quick. Now EVERYTHING is laggy: The writing, the changes, ****** colors for the highliter. Roll back the old version!!
I'm confused. The OLD version of the PDF annotation toolbar worked pretty much perfectly. Maybe a couple of minor tweaks. This functionality was wound back during the introduction of a NEW annotation toolbar with 30-40% of the OLD annotation toolbar features.
The current MS statement is... 'we're working hard to address and improve...'.
Can someone please explain why the OLD toolbar cannot simply be re-introduced? If there's a good reason, then so be it.

They've now reintroduced the PDF text annotation feature - they just need to update the interface so it's as good as it was before!
Lets keep up-voting this guys!
After the latest two updates, I am still unable to annotate PDFs on my iPad nor my iPhone! The app does not open pdfs to the last saved position either. Please fix this as I can no longer annotate my notes for school!
Think it might have got a little better in terms of Apple Pencil usability but overall still far from what was there in the past. Quite disruptive for work (and not in a good way!) Can't it just be rolled back to what was there in the past - was pretty much perfect for writing on PDFs
