Add support for RDS and Azure RemoteApp
Please add support for RDS and Azure RemoteApp to the 'Next Gen' client. At least the following scenario's should be supported:
- RDS Session based Desktops
- RDS Sessoin based RemoteApps
- RDS VDI
- Azure RemoteApp
Both the User Profile disk and Roaming Profiles should be supported as storage solution within RDS and Azure RemoteApp. Since more customers are migrating to Office 365 the support for this client in RDS became more and more critical.
Windows Virtual Desktop is now Generally Available. We also added support for OneDrive with FSLogix on Server 2019. More details here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/onedrive/sync-vdi-support.
This is absolutely essential for us to incorporate a seamless end user computing experience across our physical and virtual infrastructure.

In a production environment as our's where we have O365 users on local RDS servers with roaming Profiles the support for the OneDrive sync client is much needed
Most of our administrative data has been moved to Outlook Groups and the users are crying for access through the file explorer
All settings must off course be manageable via Group Policies
We need this functionality.

Now that Files On Demand is in GA, surely we can make some progress on this.
Give us the ability to install the OneDrive Sync client for All Users, into Program Files, and make so that if the OneDrive folder is not in the location as expected and Files on Demand is enabled, recreate it and make all the files online only (so we don't trigger a huge download). Add a GP option that allows us to prevent users marking files to "Always keep on this device"
Then give us a best practices doc that specifies:
- Files on Demand must be used
- The OneDrive folder must be excluded from the profile sync, either by a Windows GP that excludes the folder from the Roaming Profile, or by a OneDrive GP that puts it in another local folder (which might be simpler in some non-persistent VDI designs or those that use UPD).
- Use GP to prevent users from Moving their OneDrive Folder or setting files to "always keep on device"
While you're adding Group Policy Items, I'd like to see a GP to automatically add SharePoint libraries to the client, in Files On-Demand mode. I'll pop in a separate request somewhere....
I'm keen to include this in an Azure-based VDI solution we are pitching to a client in the new year but at this moment in time I cannot.
This feature is urgently needed for all Office 365 customers that expect to efficiently use the features and functions of their subscription!
Essential for many companies!
For VDI environments you could try Zee Drive http://www.thinkscape.com/Map-Network-Drives-To-Office-365-OneDrive/ for mapping OneDrive for Business and team sites to network drives. Zee Drive has specific VDI support.
Disclosure: I work for the company that develops Zee Drive

The same issue with Windows 10 1709 VDI. If the OneDrive location selected is stored on the UPD OneDrive will not allow to configure that location. Files on-demand is a valuable feature for VDI environments. Please add support for UPD's
Looks like the new on-demand client only gives the on-demand option on v1709. Server 2016 RDS with UPD doesn't even let you store the OneDrive folder on the UPD. Fun times trying to give a universal experience on local desktop and remoteapps.
Just announced today is OneDrive files on demand for Windows 10 creator update in the fall, -
It is not yet known if this will be available for Windows Server 2016 to offer the same capability... I guess on time will tell

Very usefulle in citrix for legacy apps
It is the only piece of the Office 365 jigsaw that does not work well in an RDS\Citrix Environment.
Why would MS develop a tool that doesn't work on their own platform.
Well, you can scratch RemoteApp...
This to me is an essential to move large Citrix/RDS environments to Office365 & OneDrive
