Add feature to exclude a folder
Please add a feature to exclude a folder from syncing up to OneDrive! I use OneDrive for photos but when iTunes creates the stupid iPod cache folder I do not want this to sync to the cloud. Often I remove this folder completely and let it be rebuilt, after making changes to images, and there is no point to continuously upload 5 gig to OneDrive when it is not needed.

Full support for this idea, everything said. I'm using Tableau and can either put all working files outside (means I don't have it available on all devices) or have them inside - but then I need to deactivate the sync for the time I use Tableau, as the constant sync of all the temp files makes the application unusable due to locked file access...

As you know some applications create a folder in the documents folder and save some large files in it. I want to exclude them from syncing. If that application doesn't provide a way to change save location of those files then the only way to exclude them will be through OneDrive settings.

I also have the issue with many many many files of Magix being unnecessarily synchronized
Totally agree. Needed function.
In Lightroom, the preview directory contains several 1000s of files (in my case: 52.000 files) which we don't need to sync. Not only some onedrive space is used (+10GB), but also a lot of sync data needed to keep this in sync between on prem and cloud.
An absolute must have if you have a subfolder under Documents with sensitive/classified data that must not sync to the cloud.
To echo this: Games create "My Games" under Documents, Visio creates "My Shapes" under Documents, Nuance creates "PDF Favorites" under Documents, Windows creates "Camera Roll" under pictures, and numerous other applications create folders and utilize folders under our primary Documents / Music / Videos / Pictures folders. In many cases these folders will serve no value but to take up space on our cloud storage, and some of them can get quite large.

Please, PLEASE make this happen. For a cloud service, one would take such a feature for granted. Having control of what your files should be the absolute minimum.
