Enable Folders selective Sync when on-Demand option is turned on
With Files on-Demand setting turned on, the window to "choose which folders" to sync no longer comes up when a user presses Sync on a SharePoint document library.
This becomes very problematic if the user initiates a sync on a document library with lots of files (below the NGODSC limitation of 300K files)
Even when syncing less than 100K files, the user has to wait for the entire sync process to complete prior to being able to go back to the OneDrive Settings and choose which folders to un-sync. Then the ODSC will go back and unsync all of the files that were synced in the earlier step.
This is a very inefficient process of subjecting users to go through. I understand On-Demand does not cache files and only brings down "Pointers" to online files but it still has to go through the sync process to create all of those references which takes a very long time to setup initially when dealing with a lot of files.
Please bring the "Choose folders to Sync" window back for on-demand. It is a very useful to be able to choose which folders a users wants to sync.
This is currently halting the adoption of SharePoint online for files collaboration for core departments of our business that produce and use a lot of files on a daily basis.
I have been on the phone with support for over a month talking about this. Classic response is the functionality is as designed which cannot be found in any documentation. I think it is an oversight of the product team thinking that on-demand does not cached files so why choose which folders to sync which I object to as on-demand still has to create "shortcuts" on your Synced OneDrive Folder.
