Have the option of disabling ransomware detection for a specific (encrypted) folder
While ransomware protection is a great thing to have, uploading a folder that only has encrypted folders/files inside it trips this ransomware detection. So far, after uploading that folder, I've already gotten 3 separate "suspected ransomware" notifications in regards to files from that folder.
One way it to protect against it accidentally being turned off could be something similar to how an anti-virus is set up - when it detects something wrong, it prompts the user for an action, one of which is to ignore that file/folder and exclude it from further checks. That way, the option to disable ransomware is only shown after the user is shown the potential issue, but power users would be able to choose and avoid having to receive multiple notifications about the same thing.
Agreed, we need this! Super annoying "feature" that Microsoft has.
I have this same issue.
Microsoft, can you please add the option to exclude folders from ransomware detection?!
A "feature" that cannot be switched off is not a feature but a LIMITATION. I pay for my files to be stored AS THEY ARE and I CANNOT use the function I'M PAYING FOR with this "ransomware ********". Fix this IMMEDIATELY by disabling it or at least allowing me myself to disable it.
While I appreciate Microsoft's attempt at preventing ransomware from taking over my data, I would definitely like the ability to selectively disable this so that I can use my own encryption software as I see fit.
