Enable OneDrive Personal users to set default share settings, make these share settings obvious
Hi,
I would like the option to set sharing defaults on OneDrive Personal.
i.e. a global setting that says: any file I share should -
- contain an expiration date of 30 days
- be view only
I think it is a huge oversight that this functionality is not included in OneDrive personal, where people are FAR more likely than businesses to fall foul of security issues.
I'll add that it's quite hard to gauge within Windows who a file was shared with, how and for how long. You have to log into the OneDrive dashboard on a browser to see this.
Again, if my mom wanted to share a OneDrive folder with me (with pictures) the current default functionality:
- creates a public link
- shares it with me
- doesn't add an expiration date
- doesn't notify her that this link is now (theoretically) out there for anyone to find years later
In my opinion this is a gaping security issue that should be taken seriously. Individuals don't have IT teams that are informed about these things, MS has a responsibility to protect & properly inform individual users if they plan to push the "shared experiences" functionality in Windows 1803+ as they have been.
