Syncing over LAN
This would allow multiple PCs / Devices with the same OneDrive account to sync over the local LAN network. This makes a huge difference when setting a new PC (or restoring one) as you can transfer 100's of gigs over the LAN much faster and without impacting your Internet bandwidth cap.

We don’t have a timeline yet but it’s still on our radar.

LAN sync that also syncs mounted SharePoint sites between users on the same LAN would be freaking amazing for enterprise users as well as private/ personal users.

Please add this feature, or I will take my business elsewhere.

I have been requesting this feature for years. I guess you don't want to listen to me. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

this is one of my most missed features now I am using OneDrive. It doesn't just affect users on different devices with the same account.
This would also apply to users who have shared folders with each other, but that are in the same network. -

Dropbox does this, and it has since at least 2015. Has me reconsidering my Office 365 subscription.

This also makes more sense for the 1 TB subscription. Having so much data on the cloud makes for a bad experience if you have to wait for the info to be downloaded each time you use it. Having 1TB synced to your laptop is not that easy now that everyone is switching to SSD. 1.5 TB SSDs are not that cheap and some, like mac, do not have the ability to upgrade. A NAS is the best solution for upgrading device storage since it caters to many devices in the home network.
Having the ability to store the OneDrive folder on a LAN connected NAS, or even a removable HardDrive since it is easy to augment storage for a laptop with an external HDD, would make people more interested in buying subscriptions for OneDrive, since it would make it more useful to them. -

Microsoft - start listening to your users... the people that pay you for the service.
This has been one of the MOST requested features since Office365 and OneDrive co-existed and you've continued to ignore your customer base. -

Or does it undermine some other stuff on your end?

Also consider how this can be done when a machine is setup (clean install) with a new hard disk and the old hard disk is plugged into USB.

It would be very beneficial for avoiding unnecessary traffic to the servers on top of being faster for us users. Dropbox does this.

Allowing OneDrive to sync over a LAN is such an obvious feature to reinforce its use within businesses. Many Windows desktop software suppliers are having to create their own solutions for this. Come on Microsoft - get with the program!

yes please, imagine taking pictures with a phone and having them instantly available on all LAN devices
heck it could be soo smart, wifi devices sync to ethernet pc and that pc is the only one syncing to onedrive, efficiency over 9000!

When editing the same file (e.g. .docx in Word) with multiple people at the same time, the new LAN functionality should also make the collaboration work faster. Please add this feature ASAP, it is your single most important market requirement right now!

Still thinking about it ?
"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
If you have a thought, and no words or actions flow from it, did that thought exist ? ...
(If it helps, Microsoft Windows Update already has "delivery optimizations" that propagate/share updates on a local network.)

Well, now you've been thinking about this for 6 years - then it's probably time to do something about it. With the extremely low upload speed you deliver, this is a necessity that must be implemented, immediately.

LAN sync is a must, it makes workflow much faster, instead of interact with local pc, user can make disaster. LAN can give OneDrive a total upgrade.

This is definitely a must have feature. Dropbox has had this for over 10 years now. Come on please get with the program and prioritize this already.
