Syncing over LAN
This would allow multiple PCs / Devices with the same OneDrive account to sync over the local LAN network. This makes a huge difference when setting a new PC (or restoring one) as you can transfer 100's of gigs over the LAN much faster and without impacting your Internet bandwidth cap.
We don’t have a timeline yet but it’s still on our radar.
Bad news for Onedrive !!
Only after moving my company from Dropbox to OneDrive did I discover this OneDrive inability. I will need days for all computers to get our over 100Gb of shared information.
More than 4 years to develop this funtion? Does dropbox understand more about windows than microsoft itself? They have had the functionality for many years

I wanted to add my voice that I would love this!

After reading a few comments I guess I'm lucky that I only burned up about 11% of my monthly 400GB internet quota doing a sync of 2 computers.
Doing a local sync could do a bit torrent like thing. Or like the way updates are suppose to load from local LAN computers. MS already has the code for that. It just needs to be called when a file is updated.

C'mon Microsoft! Soooo many people are waiting for this!
It seems like bringing BranchCache to OneDrive, no? Do people recall that BranchCache works on SharePoint Server 2013? It's kinda what we're looking for, right?
This is something that would be really helpful.
It is the reason we staying with Dropbox on some sites.

This prevents my transition from drobox. Fast synchronization via LAN is very important to me.
Weighing in - cloud storage is integral to my system design, but also that this storage is local. Sometimes moving 10-50GB between two workstations in order to access files without any download delay. LAN sync makes this possible. I migrated from Dropbox to One Drive due to the inclusion of office and cost, but missing this component cripples your service such that I may have to migrate back. Please incorporate LAN sync development as a high priority.

Really disappointed this feature isn't available yet. :(
still waiting for this feature...
It is important to be available also for team sites. Uploading and downloading of all the files that our company's users are creating or editing has a dramatic effect in our internet connection
Any update? Surely an inferior product cannot last like this.
Onedrive without lan sync is just not high on my priority backlog. Just being transparant
This would be an *enormous* benefit for customers, like us, who only have a 100/100 fiber connection. When large folders are deleted from a Team Site > Documents folder, the constant "Looking for Changes" eats all of our bandwidth and takes our business to it's knees.

Keeping this current. This SO needs doing.
This is the major holdup for us switching over from Dropbox. Our field personnel are often in poorly connected areas and LAN sync keeps them running with minimal interruptions. Like Teams, SharePoint, Flow... y'all are so close, but there are critical features you're years behind on!
Also, what's the point of voting if our limited votes are tied up for years of inactivity?

Voted x3. They managed to do this with windowsupdate, so why not with Onedrive (given the dropbox appifaction fiasco, I suspect they are ... feeling the load right now)

Staggered this isn't available, despite having been requested for over 5 years and nearly 6k votes!!

agreed with the rest of the comments here: a major reason to still keep using Dropbox here.
So the users have spoken, what say you Omar?
HELLO MICROSOFT, ARE YOU LISTENING??
Please implement LAN sync.
How come this was not implemented from the very start? user's do not keep 300mb like in the old days. Nowadays user's keep 50GIG+ data in their personal drives even when establishing tight policies such as 2GIG quota allowed they still want 100GB+ in a business model at the personal level I couldn't not backup my 4TB via OneDrive yet unless I separate this into 8 different user's accounts.
