Syncing over LAN
This would allow multiple PCs / Devices with the same OneDrive account to sync over the local LAN network. This makes a huge difference when setting a new PC (or restoring one) as you can transfer 100's of gigs over the LAN much faster and without impacting your Internet bandwidth cap.
We don’t have a timeline yet but it’s still on our radar.

Syncing over LAN is SO much faster than downloading. It's also much more economical for folks that have limited internet plans.
It seems like the OneDrive group is tone deaf to not have recognized the obvious time and possible money savings that come with implementing LAN sync by now.
I'm just now setting up my primary desktop computer after a fresh install of Windows 10 onto a new m.2 SSD with a brand new i7-6700k processor with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and initiated the syncing of OneDrive and Dropbox back to back. After 45 minutes OneDrive has synced only 9.6 GB of it's 258 GB while Dropbox has managed to sync a whopping 24.3 GB. of 465 GB in it's respective folder.
I use OneDrive because of it's integration into Windows 10 and the extra storage that comes with my Office subscription but it's almost 3 times SLOWER than Dropbox. That's pitiful.

Thanks for letting us know about your priorities. I vote for raising the priority. It would be a plus for users as well as taking a big syncing load off of the system and thus lower operating costs for Microsoft. It's a win-win for everyone!
This is quite simply a must. I am in my office changing from Livedrive to Onedrive this Xmas, I have 16 PCs to switch over, LAN sync would make it so much easier now and ongoing as all PCs are networked.
I have already been lead down the garden path and wasted time as a Microsoft article led me down the Team Site route not One Drive but had no mention of the 20,000 file limit. This has now been removed (Just) on One Drive for business so I am being forced to use this as I am committed. To waste another week syncing over the internet because this simple feature is not available, well it hurts to be honest.

This is a much higher priority for people in countries (such as Australia) where we have download quotas. Please bump this for this reason. Not all countries have unlimited downloads. LAN Sync helps this so much!

Any update if this is going to be made available?

This is a great feature of Dropbox, saving much paid data usage between machines.
totally agree. i'm setting up a new pc now. it's going to take days to sync up onedrive

This is the only reason restricting me, and I'm sure numerous others, to move to OneDrive from Dropbox.
+1 Just took it for granted that It would be there. obviously not....

This should be prioritize on your backlog, this is really painfull. Just make the switch to Office 365 and moving everything from Dropbox to OneDrive. Maybe I wouldn't have make this move knowing that... Datacap isn't an issue here since I have unlimited internet but that's a waste of time to redownload everything on each computer when you already have one that have it all.

I fully support this idea... MS has been working a long time for the enterprise. We are changing 20.000 PC every year in my organization. Synchronizing back OneDrive on the new PC is a huge waste of time.
It should not be too complex to develop it ? Dropbox is proposing this feature for years now...

It's PAINFUL to set up a new PC with several hundred GB of files in OneDrive. Some ISPs cap data (Comcast caps at 300GB in some local markets) so it may take a couple of months or more for OneDrive to sync to a new PC. Please don't make me wait 3 months for my files to sync!
I have a complete, fully synced copy on my old PC. Why can't I copy that locally (even just once). When OneDrive starts syncing, why does it assume any local copy is NOT the same as the cloud copy? Can't you hash or otherwise check the files (name, date/time, size, and ask me if I wish to assume the local copy is the same, even if this is just a "one time" thing during setup).
C'mon Microsoft. We are waiting for lan sync for years. hurry up..
Microsoft is getting worse...

Frankly who cares anymore, OneDrive just went down the toilet with the Nov 2nd announcement.

I just switched to OneDrive Premium from my 7 years engagement with Dropbox Pro only to just discover that there is no freaking LAN sync? are you EFF-ing me!
Pretty funny that dropbox can do this simple feature but the big guys over at Microsoft struggle with the concept of lan syncing.
I can't believe that anyone in their right mind, would remove this feature from Skydrive.. how many bongs did you smoke before starting the day?
+1 to bring this back so we can stop using alternative products.

Here in rural Wales we don't have superfast broadband, so syncing 100s of GB over the net takes weeks, if not months! I want to love OneDrive and wean myself off Dropbox, as Office 365 sub is a bargain in comparison. I can't do it yet because you won't implement a basic feature that's been included with Dropbox for ages. Do not assume that everybody can work in the cloud all the time, so PLEASE JUST DO IT!!!

Add this feature please and i cancel dropbox :-)
