Syncing over LAN
This would allow multiple PCs / Devices with the same OneDrive account to sync over the local LAN network. This makes a huge difference when setting a new PC (or restoring one) as you can transfer 100's of gigs over the LAN much faster and without impacting your Internet bandwidth cap.
We don’t have a timeline yet but it’s still on our radar.

This is the single feature that keeps Dropbox as my first option.
As often as I work with large files, this would be an incredibly beneficial feature. Thank you for creating an awesome product so far--please add this feature into your future plans. Thanks.

Hi. I just had to run around with a flash drive to set a new PC again, Wasted 3 hours and beware if you make a mistake, all other PC get updated over broadband and it cost me quite a lot of extra data. Is there no date for Onedrive to fix this?

Omar has this become a high priority yet?

[Insert Morpheus meme] What if I told you... that LAN sync is the reason for many of the users OneDrive is losing to Dropbox?

I SO agree that the device to device over LAN option should be a TOP priority. I have a Dropbox account but prefer to use Onedrive. Please please....

Well, 9 months later could be considered the future!
How about an update?
With OneDrive's slow sync speed, this would be a huge improvement.
In my opinion, this needs to be a BIG priority, especially now that OneDrive is unlimited. Everytime I upgrade a machine, it takes me 30 minutes to sync my Dropbox files via LAN, and 24 hours to sync my OneDrive. I understand that this may not have been as big of a problem in Windows 8/8.1 due to the advanced selective sync, but now that Windows 10 is moving back to the old way of syncing folders, it's really important that I be able to sync my large library over LAN.
This is the one thing that is keeping me from canceling Dropbox and moving to OneDrive exclusively. Please, please make this a priority. Thanks.
Why is this not here yet? I continue to use dropbox for other scenarios and this just seems like it should be there. Especially since live mesh had it? I know you are working on cross platform so that everybody has onedrive, but how about making the experience richer with Windows and allow lan sync.
Live Mesh had LAN Sync how many years ago?? How can you not have implemented this?
The amount of money and talent MS has at their disposal shows how much they purely hate their customers. If you are even thinking of using an MS product or solution take a second to research the hundreds of similar situations where a company of 90% managers in incapable of the most basic tasks to meet customers needs.
This feature is the last thing that makes us continue to use Dropbox. It is critical that this is moved to high priority. In fact I am quite shocked that it is not.
Sharing files across PCs on our network using OneDrive for Business can often cause massive bottlenecks in our workflow. This costs us valuable time and money. I am sure this is NOT a good selling point.
Hi, I am new to the Linux environment and still learning but I have to say I love it! One thing I am not sure about is I have setup a computer running Linux. Now i want software that will serve as backup for another windows machine. The thing is i have tried using CloudBacko pro Backup Software but i just get confused although from what i have read it would be the perfect backup solution. Does anybody know of software i can use and is there a how to guide lol. Please provide links if possible.
Yes, this would be great when installing a new PC.
+1, this should be a basic feature
This, in conjunction with differential or delta sync, would make OneDrive a whole lot more attractive to business users who use OneDrive to share files across multiple machines. As a home user, I don't need one machine uploading files to the internet, and another downloading them from the internet, when both machines are on the same network, and could just sync between one another, just like Dropbox does. These are the two missing features that are preventing me from using OneDrive as my primary sync platform.

I agree. Now that Comcast is putting a bandwidth cap on users' accounts, this is an essential feature. Also, as more users have more computers in the home/building, this will save everyone's bandwidth. I would have adopted OneDrive long ago had this feature been available. The only reason I left Dropbox now was because I needed the Office applications that came with Office 365, and OneDrive came with it. Please move this higher in your priority list.
This should be one of your top priorities, the more storage offer the more crucial this feature is. and if one of your rivals has it, then you should already be implementing it.
we had the same problem with our company.
Just had to change PC'S On a weekend base.
In the end we decided not to invest in an expencive and useless local server and han no other choise than Dropbox for Team, everything went smooth and perfectly.
If you also have large data sets to upload for first time contact dropbox support, they will plan e preferred upload connection with fast data bandwith and or defined offices in mayor cities where you can connect and upload Terabytes in just Hours.
C'mon! OneDrive was a pain whe. I got a new PC, it takes forever. We really need this.
