allow file or folder name containing special characters in OneDrive for Business
OneDrive for Business syncing from local drive to web: just "Too many sync errors" without pertinent suggestions or reasons, and my findings is it don't allow file or folder name containing special characters, e.g. % or # which are now allowed in Windows 7 or 8 and OneDrive for PERSONAL syncing from local drive to web
There are so many files and paths that One Drive chokes on. I know there is a tool to get rid of them but the underlying issue in SharePoint needs fixing.

Has this been fixed? I don't think it has.
I try to this step was successful,
Connect-SPOService -Url https://<domainname>-admin.sharepoint.com -Credential $userCredential
Set-SPOTenant -SpecialCharactersStateInFileFolderNames Allowed
#check to complete
Get-SPOTenant | Format-List SpecialCharactersStateInFileFolderNames
Include Google drive in all this.
Smarten up MS & Google!

This is absolutely ridiculous! Our business is building automation and a lot of our system generated files and program names contain special characters. Now I am forced to use a separate cloud service rather than the one bundled with our Microsoft Services. When can we expect some results from Microsoft?
It's really very simple. You must make allowed characters to match between Windows and OneDrive because then you won't have any confusion. Using different naming conventions between Microsoft systems is seriously confusing. There must be a standard across the board with Microsoft. We have customers that are mad at our business because we use OneDrive product that doesn’t support their file naming and they have no problem with using the competing product. Does Microsoft want us to stick with OneDrive or switch to another solution? We cannot afford to see competing products be superior to OneDrive when our customers are adversely affected. Eventually we will have to change to make our customers happy.

We have the same problem where when user receiving email on IPhone/Ipad with attachment file name consist of special characters which can't be saved to OneDrive/SharePoint directly. Hope Microsoft can fix this issue soon as many of users facing similar problem and have great impact on operation.
Hi any update on this issue? Or intention to fix it.
Its a deal breaker for me! back to drop box :( if only I could have 2 Gdrives on one pc.
I use | in many folders names, to change has to many complicated repercussions into my backup and merging.
Would like to see OneDrive allow the same characters in a name that are acceptable to the Windows operating system. For sync to work on those files, the files have to be renamed. Any link to a renamed file then has to be corrected. OneDrive is an operating system function, so it should recognize normal (allowable) names? Please fix.
