Allow OneDrive for Business folder to be renamed
The main OneDrive for Business folder cannot be renamed, apparently because the path for syncing would break.
This is limiting and becomes very confusing for employees when sharing files with colleagues, as SharePoint creates folders with the same name in the computers. People don't remember which is theirs and which is shared.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I agree. The spaces make it hard to operate out of in certain coding instances.
This is really important, at least give us the option to change to onedrive_UID instead of "OneDrive - Something really annoying with spaces and special character without being able to change"
Please add this feature! I didn't mean to buy Microsoft 365 for business so now i have to deal with 'OneDrive - CO NAME NOT APPLICABLE'/. It is a pain to navigate through this using the command prompt
We need this!!!
Wow, 6 years. Very sad. I just set up a second OneDrive for Business link on my workstation for collaborate with a colleague. The root name the same as my primary one with a (1) on the end. My question, therfore... If Microsoft can append the name with (1) on creation of the link, why is it not capable of releasing that level of control to the owner/creator of the account, or the administrator of the linked workstation? It makes absolutely no sense. This capability obviously exists, as evidenced by the automated appending of the name to avoid name conflict.
Please add this feature as soon as possible. Waiting on it for years now.

I sync two onedrive accounts from the same organisation but I can't have them in the same drive because they have the same name! I'd happily rename one of them.
When I first signed up I wasn't certain which company name we would use for the account. The name defaulted to "OneDrive - NO CO NAME PROVIDED". We have now edited the administration data. New users have the desired folder name appear in their File Explorer name but I am still stuck with the default name and can't change it.

ARE YOU LISTENING ???????
This request has been sitting around for about SIX YEARS ..
How about replying and telling us what your plans are.
This is just pure BAD DESIGN.
I don't use OneDrive for this reason as I have 3 accounts that are used and it is too confusing as I can't rename.
Having a double problem with this. My company name contains ä and ö which causes some programs to break. Also the "-" causes some issues with some programs.
same issue with long filenames please allow longer or ability to change the onedrive name
I'd also like to see this for the Personal folders so it is easier for users to look in File Explorer and ID which OneDrive they are connecting to.
Same issue with long filenames so please either allow longer or ability to change the OneDrive name
OneDrive for Business actually not business ready...
Unfortunately my company name is 54 characters. A long company name produces a long file pathname which is limiting at times, when folders/files need descriptive names.
I faced this limit when I tried to upload my project file to OneDrive. I could not rename the OneDrive folder and so could not upload! Very frustrating.
With the "-" symbol and spaces in OneDrive for Business folder name (like "OneDrive - my orgnization"), lots of software and commandline batchs say they cannot find the file path.
Could you please fix the problem as soon as possible!
Also the biggest problem is anyone that actually organizes files and have a naming convention for files that include things like client name, project name, etc.. will cause the files to be considered too long.
Onedrive adds like30 chars to the filename and also does not use the 400 char limit it's supposed to and any document past 164 chars simply gets treated as "file not found"
Onedrive for Business is very much NOT business friendly.

Display name would be good enough. Company name + Display Name. Its so useless to have 2 one drives showing up with the same name when they have different purposes.
I know I am wasting time posting on this issue...
But how difficult would it be to add Username to the OneDrive Folder rather then company name? Having multiple OneDrive folders with the same Company Name is not helpful.
To others...our current work around is to create a OneDrive Folder on the Users Desktop. Create Shortcuts to each One Drive Location. The shortcuts can be renamed to what ever you want. We name them "OneDrive_Username" then you can pin this OneDrive folder to Quick Access. The user opens the folder and has shortcuts with friendly names to all OneDrive or SHarePoint Locations. Stupid and a PITA that this needs to be done but it solves a lot of the confusion that comes with the inherent named OneDrive locations.
