Choose "Sort By" default in OneDrive
Being able to change the default option for sorting folders by name, date, etc. yourself. Currently I have to go to each folder and choose how I want to sort the contents but would like to set a default (for example name ascending) and it will always show files within each folder in the same way
Thanks for the suggestion.
The sort order I choose should be saved when closing the app automatically
Why's the sort order different on Android app than on the Windows PC app?
This is slightly annoying! I strip metadata and rename files in order. Now when the customer opens the folders the images are all over the place. Not being able to change default sorting order is a huge misstep for a file hosting site.

Dear all, please add an option so that all folders are sorted.

Doug, after 3 /12 years have you had enough thinking time?
Here's my thought after 3 /12 minutes: just do it.
Bothers me quite a bit, this would be a major improvement
Nothing else than "Thanks for the suggestion."? Is there still any dveloper alive in the OneDrive team?
OneDrive team, if you are reading this, please do something about it. You are on the verge of losing me as a customer!
I can’t believe it is still not implemented. I am about to switch to any other cloud storage because of this. Every time I want to access a picture on OneDrive (I have 500k+), I have to struggle with sort order and change it to name again and again.
This is crazy.
I struggle with the same issue that the sort order of files has to be manually changed time after time. The "save sort order" button in One Drive does not work. This is disappointing. Seems pretty basic stuff if you ask me.
DO YOU PLAN TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE?
This suggestion was made in 2015. 4 years ago. It's a great suggestion and very useful. We should be able to change the default sort method. I always need mine sorted by name not date taken. Date taken is the default. It's a painstaking method to do that to all my folders. And keep doing it. If the folder is copied into another folder after it has been sorted by name, it still defaults to date taken. And Yes, I am saving the sort order every time It's a rudimentary and preferred method across many platforms. Please Allow users to go to settings and choose our default sort method.
Oh and please add dark mode to onedrive. This white background on a large monitor causes me to pop on the shades every time. Too bright. Please and Thanks.

@Laurent NUQ - Except that doesn't work out so hot when you have 500 files sorted across dozens of folder, you unimaginative shortsighted idiot.

OneDrive added the option to save sort order you pieces of ****. You just have to sort your folders in the way you want them to be sorted, and click on "Save sort order". That's all you ********.
Just discovered this ridiculous situation where photos sorted the way I want on OneDrive on the web is not reflected in OneDrive IOS app. I wasted so much time with OneDrive on the web -ugh,
and after I decided to use OneDrive for my photos storage. Isn't it obvious that the versions should be in sync.
An ongoing issue that hasn't been fixed, it can't be that difficult ?Definitely an 'I hate tech companies' day.
Please add the feature to set default sorting. This is most basic. At least set your default to name in ascending order. Crazy you have not done this already! Nearly 4 years and people are still waiting!
I’d like the same feature please. Retain all folder and file settings.
Is anyone working here?
Just had this come up from users in my organization. Please add this feature!
This solution is for the Onedrive web version and not the Onedrive app. With Onedrive on the web open and showing your list of folders, subfolders, or files, click on the "details" button on the upper far right side. The details button is a circle with a line in the middle. The detail pane opens on the right side of the screen. Go down to "Folder Type" and click on "change" and select the "documents" option. The contents of the folder will now permanently display the folder contents in alphabetical order. By selecting the "Photo" option, the contents will display in date order. Unfortunately, you have to do this for every folder in Onedrive that you want the default to display folder contents in alphabetical order. Once you make the change, it will stay that way until you change it.
