Block Level Synchronisation (Differential Sync)
Split any files into blocks and sync only parts of the file that were updated instead of the whole file. Very popular request for Windows, but should be implemented in the core itself, also available vor macOS and anyone else: https://onedrive.uservoice.com/forums/913522-onedrive-on-windows/suggestions/6369855-enable-differential-sync-only-sync-parts-of-the-f

We added support for differential sync across Windows and macOS.

Was differential sync added for non Office documents?

Totally agree with Bikr! Terribly inefficient, slow and wasteful without this feature. I now pay for Dropbox just to have it.

OneDrive sync is slow and pegs the Core i7 on my 2018 MacBook Pro to the point that it's been killing my battery life. I even took it to the Apple Store for diagnostics because I thought my battery was defective!
After disabling OneDrive, I no longer see abnormal battery life. I'm actually considering paying for Dropbox (with incremental sync) even though I get 1TB free storage with my Office 365 account. Please, please, please make the sync engine more efficient and only sync changes, NOT entire files!
