  1. allow MACs to have external-drive OneDrives like Windows PCs and Surface tablets

Why are windows and surface tablets allowed to have externally located OneDrives? Macs should too.

Your competitors allow it as well.

  2. Mac Time Machine backup to OneDrive

The massive storage we get for the price we pay is great but I expected to be able to backup my laptops, PC and Macs, to my OneDrive. Currently I have a solution for file storage with OneDrive and a separate solution for disk image backups of my devices. Please figure out a way to backup OS and Windows disk images to OneDrive

  3. Allow Renaming Local Folder

Allow renaming the local folder so the OneDrive folder name doesn't always turn out so long (especially if you have Office 365 at work). "Your Name - Your Employer's Name" doesn't look good in the Finder sidebar.

  4. Make OneDrive MacOS FileName compatible

Sync all your files anywhere, anytime across PC and Mac? Hardly!! OneDrive still has legacy Windows filename limitations and refuses to deal with files/file names that are fully legal names on the MacOS. This has been an issue for YEARS that Microsoft has continually ignored. Until Microsoft can be bothered to fix this, OneDrive will continue to be nothing but an "also ran", trailing far behind competing products/service what do not have such issues (which would be just about every other product/service out there). Until Microsoft can be bothered to fix this, I will have no other choice but to…

  5. Umlauts [äöü]

    Hello,
unfortunately OneDrive for Mac is not supporting umlauts like (äöü). In Finder all documents and folder with umlauts in it show all the time the sync symbol. As soon as I remove all umlauts the sync process is going well.
It would be nice, if you change this.
    Thanks!

  6. Allow OneDrive to sync to removable media on MacOS OSX.

Enable the feature/option to Sync OneDrive on Removable media on OSX.
Many Mac's have limited HDD space, it is very importanto to allow sync OneDrive to external drive

  7. Improve energy efficiency

The energy efficiency of the OneDrive app on the Mac appears to be quite poor. It eats the battery pretty quickly.

  8. Scheduling

    Hi
Is it possible to schedule when syncing occurs with the onedrive client on MacOs. I find the computer slows dramatically when uploading a lot of files

    Thanks
    Matt

  9. Sync errors shouldn't stop other files from syncing

If a file is unable to sync due to an unsupported character in the name or some other error, it shouldn't cause all my other files from syncing. Syncing should continue with all files except those with the error.

  10. OneDrive needs to add auto sync customer selected folders in Mac!!!

I manually drag the folders to my OneDrive to back up my documents in Mac every single day!! It's 2020, everyone else has auto-sync already. Microsoft you'd better hurry up or all loyal customers using Mac will gradually leave your cloud base services!

  11. Known folder sync feature request

We would like to put ~/Documents and ~/Desktop (for example) in MacOS on OneDrive for Business without actually moving these folders elsewhere. We would request you to make this feature as early as possible.

  12. Sync Documents, Desktop etc folders to OneDrive Option

Just like OneDrive for Windows has with the Auto Save tab 'Protect your important folders' that would allow you to automatically back up anything saved to Documents, Desktop and Pictures folder, I'd love for it to be an option for Mac. Even a step further where additional folders could be selected by the user.

As an admin that manages a number of users on mac, it's been a bit of a push to get users across and some of them are never going to do it the 'right' way and save into their OneDrive. By having this option, it can…

  13. Make it work on a stock MacbookPro

Currently the OneDrive folder cannot be created on a case-sensitive drive. Well, the stock MacbookPro only has case-sensitive drive, which shuts me out of using OneDrive on it.

  14. to open the files in "collaborative mode" when using the synced folder to open a file.

I'm using OneDrive to collaborate with my colleagues on the same document.

In windows when opening a file from the synced folder of OneDrive, it automatically enables the "Collaborative mode" (with the circle arrows in the save icon), on Mac it doesn't!

Every time I want to open a file and collaborate (often) we have to search for the file from the navigation tool of the application instead of Finder, which is inconvenient!

  15. Folder Badges

It would be really helpful to see which files and folders have already been synced by seeing those folder badges like dropbox and box.com have. Can OneDrive implement a feature like this please?

  16. Add link to show list of deleted files on "Remove Files from All Locations" dialog

When you have deleted more than 200 files, a dialog is presented titled "Remove Files from All Locations" that gives you the option to remove the files from OneDrive or restore them to your device.

Before taking either of these actions, I would almost always want to see what files will be affected.

Please add a link/button to open a display with a list of these files.

  17. Add password security to access onedrive folder in Mac desktop app

Please add passcode for onedrive mac desktop app just like there is one for iphone app of onedrive. Not everyone in this world has personal laptops and onedrive is my favorite app which i use daily and and getting it on my desktop with password security would make my work very easy and quick.

  18. MAC OS X : Create a upload bandwidth limit so we can use the internet while one drive uploads. QoS !!!

One drive manage to consume all upload bandwidth which means you do not have enough bandwidth to request to view another site or use another service at the same time.

  19. Metered connection functionality on macOS

It would be great to have some sort of metered connection functionality on macOS like Windows. I know that Windows 10 has this native in the OS, but I think there are other ways to implement on Mac:

    1) Being able to select a network adapter (ex: Novatel U620L LTE modem)
    2) Being able to whitelist and blacklist ESSIDs for syncing
    3) Ability to manually turn on a "limited mode"

Honestly, I'd love the option to have all 3 of those.

  20. Only one suggestion that everyone will agree with... Feature parity with the Windows version. That should be the baseline.

Only one suggestion that everyone will agree with... The Mac version should always have feature parity with the Windows version. That should be the baseline. We shouldn't have to ask for this. We should simply expect it.
