  1. Don't go through JavaScript for large requests

Submitting large requests that affect several thousand files on onedrive.com is tedious, long, inefficient, process-intensive, and forces me to keep a tab/window open on onedrive.com while my request is executed. THIS IS NOT HOW CLOUD COMPUTING SHOULD WORK. YOU SHOULD BE LEVERAGING THE PROCESSING POWER OF THE CLOUD, NOT MY CLIENT MACHINE, DON'T YOU GET IT?!

Example: I have 27,000 files in my recycle bin. When I click on "Empty recycle bin", it takes a few minutes while it displays "Preparing to delete files" (selecting 27,000 files to be deleted), then when that's done, I can finally click on "Delete",…

  2. Attachment via Onedrive

I'd like to be able to compose an email and attach a document that stored in Onedrive. Not send a Onedrive link, since recipients don't want to log in or even click on a link and then download it. OneDrive for business now has this.

    Thanks

  3. Migration from Google Drive

The ability to migrate all data stored on competing cloud systems (i.e. Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) to OneDrive.

  4. Ability to change date of pictures

I uploaded tons of old pictures to OneDrive, and all of them were uploaded with the wrong dates, messing up my "All Photos" view.

Please, add the ability for me to change the date of those pictures, with the option to change all pictures inside an album.

Wanted to provide an update here.

First of all, if you are running into bugs (like all your photos have the same date) please reach out to support. If you’re on mobile, you can shake your device, if you’re on the web, you can use the settings cog.

As for the ability to change metadata on photos, that’s not something we currently have on the immediate roadmap.

  5. allow buyer of 1 tera storage the ability to upload much larger number of files than currently allowed

If you sell 1 tera space, why do you only allow 1000 files (or 10 G, whichever is smaller?) for each uploading????? I have about 80,000 photos in about 400 G to upload. That is why I am paying $10 per month for the 1 tera storage space in OneDrive. But, at the pace you allow me, I have no idea when I will be able to get all my files uploaded. Even if I had all my files in neat 1000-pieces chunks (folders), which of course is not true, I still need to upload 80 times, when I should…

  6. Show better progress state during upload in webbrowser

The upload progress of bigger/multiple file using a webbrowser (such as Chrome or Internet Explorer) is not very informative. There is no progress in terms of percentage of megabytes uploaded, nor which file is currently beeing uploaded.

  7. Timezone OneDrive (Web) is incorrect.

The OneDrive (like Outlook) has a serious problem with time. In Outlook I can't set my correct time, he always adds extra hours when choosing my time zone, and the OneDrive too. I just edit a document the 5 pm. And the OneDrive says it was edited the 10 pm!

This is an old problem, you do not intend to solve?

  8. Allow Copy of Folders AND files

Allow the ability to copy folder(s) AND folder contents from the client to OneDrive. Only allowing individual files limits the usefulness of OneDrive.

  9. Search Subfolders when using OneDrive.com

When I search, it only searches the current folder. I want search, through the Web interface, to look through subfolders as well.

  10. create timelapse videos from folders

Have an option one oneDrive.com to create a timelapse video from a series of photographs in one folder. It would make creation of these an easy feat from any browser!

If all the photos are timestamped, then ordering them into a timelapse video is easy. Using the power of the cloud, it should be quick and easy to do!

  12. Enable viewing of XPS files on OneDrive.com

With Office Online, we have the ability to quickly and easily view Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF documents in the web browser. However, we cannot currently view XPS documents. Many times, I print to XPS to quickly get a portable document that I can share with others, but there's no quick way to view it in the browser. Plus, the Windows 8 Reader app supports XPS viewing. Therefore, I think Office Online should as well.

  13. Provide a chapter editor for video files stored on OneDrive.

One of the things that I loved about digital media as I grew up was the ability to instantly seek to the next track or chapter.

As we moved from CDs and DVDs to MP3s and MPGs, the audio side of things quickly developed metadata to group multiple individual tracks into albums, however video did not receive this sort of attention.

Apple created a modified MP4 container years ago which supported chapters, but sadly WMV never had any equivalent (even though it would have been a simple feature to add).

In DVDs, all the video is stored as a single…

  14. Give us the ability to create playlists of our media stored on OneDrive.

I want to be able to create and share playlists of the audio and video that I have stored on OneDrive (or a mixture of both). Windows Media Player made this simple and easy a decade and a half ago on the client. I want this in your web app as well.

Gapless playback is an important feature.

Also, highly valued, would be the ability to specify a timecode to begin playing a video or audio at and also specify a timecode to end playing that piece of media at, as well as the ability to add the same video…

  15. Fully support subtitles, captions, transcripts, lyrics, etc. for both playback and editing.

Subtitles, captions, transcripts, synchronized lyrics, and the like are very important parts of both video and audio.

If I have a folder in OneDrive with video or audio in it and an identically named (but with a different extension) subtitle file, I definitely want the subtitles to be presented when I (or anyone else) stream that video from OneDrive.

This is also important for videos and audio which have subtitles, captions, or lyrics embedded within them - either encoded as part of the media stream or muxed into the same file container. (WMV and WMA both have this possibility, among…

  16. Structure for OneDrive - at least by developer guidelines

Many apps use OneDrive to backup their data. But since there is no (recommended) structure for OneDrive they typically end up polluting OneDrive root directory.

I would like to see something like "AppData" directory in OneDrive root. That would be the place for apps data like settings backups etc. This would leave the rest of te OneDrive for everyone's personal tastes.

  18. Built-in code editor

On the odd occassion I store code files on my onedrive whilst transporting between college and home and I don't like having to continuously download and re-upload them files.

I think it would be a good idea to have a built-in code editor inside onedrive which is able to edit any kind of script file.

  19. When the browser closes unexpectedly, the web interface may behave annoyingly if folders/files are moving.

If folders are in the process of moving, two folders with partial contents may be left in the source and destination locations upon reopening.

  20. Activity notifications in the web interface often cover the folders/files I'm working on.

Rather than a drop-down box as an activity notifications, maybe just post notifications in the toolbar at the top of the page.
