Hi everybody
I have been reading the posts on here with much interest, a couple of years ago I purchased an office 365 home family subscription, the reason for this was to put office and onedrive on applications onto as many devices as I could, 5 pc’s and 5 other devices wow that was great and each user gets a TB of storage space as well, then Microsoft announced unlimited storage for 365 subscribers, just after they made the announcement one of my 3tb external hard drives decided that it did not want to play anymore, this drive had many of my movies, music and family photos stored on it, I did manage however to get the vast majority off the drive before it collapsed completely and became no more, then the announcement, unlimited storage space for your onedrive, fantastic I can now store all my files safely without the fear of losing them, it took me some time to fill the 1 TB of space. I then contacted Microsoft and asked for my unlimited space, they replied by giving me 10TB of space, I have now filled just over 4.4 TB of the available space and am fairly confident that I won’t use the full 10TB,
We use this as a family like Microsoft have encouraged us to do and share all that is on the onedrive like family photos and music collections, as well as movie collections and more, we even have many Microsoft docs saved there as well, We have 6 grown up children whom all have access to the drive so that they can upload photos and videos of them and our grandchildren, then a quick e mail to let us know to go look, I also have a couple of friends in Hong Kong, and friends in Spain who all have access to the drive also.
The reason I came to read this forum today is that for the last couple of days I have been getting a message that onedrive is temporally unavailable, I guess I know why now, I have yet to see any sort of announcement or to be contacted by Microsoft informing me that I need to move my files and docs off the onedrive.
Now as far as I am concerned I do not think that I have abused the amount of space I use, especially when I read that others have used 75TB, my position in this conversation is that if that when Microsoft made the announcement that all subscribers were to receive unlimited storage space that if they did not anticipate that some users were going to abuse this and store everything on the onedrive then those people should no longer be in there highly paid jobs, also how can one abuse unlimited, unlimited means exactly that unlimited, did no one at Microsoft not think and voice that this was not possible and if not why not.
This in my opinion is what Microsoft should be looking in to the fact that they are now having to go back on the original offer must be totally embarrassing to an organisation such as Microsoft, and how the other players must be laughing at them now as the welch on the offer and use the excuse they have, very very poor customer regard of care.
It is obvious even to myself that if you make such an offer you have to be able to deliver what you offer, why is Microsoft now taking this offer away from the masses, all because a few as they said, have taken more space and in doing so jeopardised the very foundation of the Microsoft juganought and threatening to bring it to a standstill, I think not, and talking of thinking why not reduce the amount of free storage to 10TB which is still very substantial and would not be such a huge climb-down, but hey they know they have us by the balls don’t they.
Microsoft you are UNBELIEVABLE. BTW, we have 4 windows phones, 3, windows tablets, 4 other tablets, 6 laptops, 10 PCs all running Microsoft, and this how we are treated.
