Move or Copy to a Shared with me folder
I have a folder that is shared with me. I have edit permissions on that folder. I need an option to "move" or to "copy" files to that shared folder.
There is an option to move from the shared folder but I need it the other way around.
Thank you for this suggestion. Wanted to provide an update that we are looking into this for future updates.
I'm not fully certain if my issue is the same:
What I'm trying to do is move existing files in a Shared folder (I'm not the owner, but I have edit permissions) to another sub folder within the same Shared folder. Not trying to move files out, just want to tidy the existing file structure.
My workaround is to download a copy of the files I want to move, upload them to the sub folder I want to move them to, then delete the originals. Not the best or fastest solution.
Strangely, I AM able to move files from one place to another in Sharepoint - or at least, in a folder that I have access to through a Shared Library in Sharepoint.
Just been trying to do the very same. I find it staggering that it is SO hard to do the most basic function of copying from a shared folder to a main folder!
This is not how Bill Gates became a billionaire!

Hello... I see 404 votes for this, and this still hasn't been implemented? Thank you.

Microsoft - why is this not a feature? We are forced to use One Drive at work and need to absolutely do this to equally share material.
Just adding my voice for the concerns voiced here. Not only can you not add unused storage from a family account except via a shared folder, I now cant move files to a shared with me folder. Come on microsoft extract the digit.
Yup, still need it. Every time I go on a hike. Which is twice a week and I want to exchange photos we each took with hiking partners. using a SHARED folder.
Not possible. Wow. 2020 and a cloud based file management system doesn't implement 'COPY' as a verb. Maybe we should still be thankful 'Delete' exists?
I am astonished, too. Is there some kind of block/flaw in the architecture that prevents this?
Wow, its still not possible. How difficult is it to add this simple necessary feature. Feeling ashamed to even call this a "feature"
nOneDrive: this is another reason why the moniker is so appropriate! Would be funny if so many people weren't forced to use it.
This is ridiculous.

As others have posted, I am truly astonished that Microsoft do not understand the essential nature of being able to easily copy/move files from and to shared folders. Completely absurd situation.
2020 and still not fixed. Un-be-lie-va-ble how they can just miss something as obvious as that. Really puts one off from trying Microsoft stuff.

I tried this, but the only options I'm given are places withing my own OneDrive ['your OneDrive']; I am not seeing options for Folders that were shared with me.
Is this still not possible? It's 2020.

I have no idea why I can't do this. It's such a common feature in other shared platforms... And I absolutely need it. I just migrated from Gsuite, and so far I've been incredibly pleased, until this...
Don't understand why not have this feature added.
This is so frustraing - it's ridiculous how much time I have watsed trying to move my files into a shared folder. It's too confusing to have them in multiple places.
Very useful feature for a shared folder amongst team... please add
4 years later, still need this feature!
Has this been resolved yet? I need to move a shared document into My file on onedrive without downloading and saving so we can all continue to work on it together. thanks
