Thumbnail preview, does not work for jpg files uploaded bye the onedrive sync in windows
On onedrive.com, thumbnail preview of jpg files does not work, if the jpg files is uploaded using onedrive sync in windows. If I upload the sames files to a new folder using the browser on onedrive.com, thumbnail preview is showing up on all files. This is happening on all versions of windows 10. It is not a browser issue, the same happens when viewing onedrive in chrome, firefox, edge, ie 11, so it must be an upload problem. Some of the files however shows up correctly.
This issue has been resolved. If you have any further issues, please follow up with support (shake your device for mobile, use settings cog on the web)

This is not fixed - I have exactly the same issue as everyone is describing below. OneDrive synch of jpgs from Laptop shows no preview when accessing onedrive via web. Uploading jpg files or full folder containing jpgs manually via web onedrive UI (Upload option) shows the image preview, but there's still a little mountain symbol on the image and the preview pane clearly shows that onedrive thinks it's not a photo as tags, camera, date taken etc. (all photo-specific metadata) are missing. This needs to be fixed urgently in order to be able to use onedrive as a viable photo storage alternative to flickr or google photos.
This issue appeared on my Onedrive a week ago. I have 3000 photos on Onedrive and it was working fine before.
The issue is the that the uploaded jpg is recognized as a file and not as an image.
I don't see any workaround for this problem. Waiting a fix from MS.

Same issue for me. I've uploaded the photos more than once using different methods and the preview disappear in photo view. If you click to show file info there is no metadata.
Videos and screenshot taken with my phone have thumbnail previews. Photos do not. Bizarrely during the upload process the thumbnails are created and can be seen when navigating to the destination folder in the files view. Then they disappear.
If I then download a photo from onedrive and open in windows the metadata is there.
BOOM IT’S NOT DONE! Still cannot open a jpeg file in full view.

It is definitely not resolved! Still the same problem here. Meh

Yes it is still happening. I have been having this problem for the last month.
Is there any estimate on when it will be fixed??
same annoying problem. Just get the mountain icon instead of a thumbnail image of the photo. Only solution I found was open the image, save it AGAIN, then delete the original image so I don't have duplicates. Then, sometimes, the viewer can't even open up the new image again. PLEASE fix this! My photos are a nightmare!
It's not resolved. I have to resort to outside program - Faststone ImageViewer, which is great- in order to view my one drive photos easily. It would be really good if One Drive could implement something similar.
Reply shows that the issue with the thumbnail prevue has been solved but I still get upload errors on my JPG images as of 2019-05-28
Where can I find the solution ? the Onedrive on my phone still does not show the pictures.
Why is the app not updated automatically with the fix ?
I'm having this issue but it seems only for scanned jpg files. Any idea why?
