Duplicate files/photos ( duplicates )
Like other suggestions I would like a way to not have duplicate files/photos, to save space.
Can we have some specific way to:
1) run a "duplicate" search that can automatically delete files/photos based on a name, size and date
2) search for duplicates and then list them all in name order, showing name, size and date to then give option to review then delete
3) a file compare search for similar looking files, then the option to delete one(s)
This isn’t in our plans in the near term. Wanted to be accurate in our status. We do understand the request.

I have also just discovered this flaw in the One Drive system. It does seem amazing that we now have to spend tedious hours deleting all these duplicates! Come along Microsoft! To work!
The tool should show online "folder with similar content", for example I have uploaded my holiday pictures twice and i forgot, it shows me both folders and informs me they look similar.
I can totally agree with this requirement. It takes hours to check duplicates manually.
I have been in touch with a very kind Microsoft Rep of OneDrive team, though my problem can't be solved -- with ease.
This is the #1 problem I have with OneDrive...hundreds and hundreds of duplicate photos, and no way to mass delete them (and impossible to delete 1X1, or 10X10, etc)...and no way to identify them if in different folders.
Please, Please, Please make this a feature to save on space and frustration in this endeavor to clean up my OneDrive.

Yes, and THANK YOU!

I think this is related -- I'd like to have the option to "not import" when I attempt to upload a duplicate file -- rather than either creating a duplicate or replacing the existing file.
Si.
Please add this functionality, as third-party service providers do not seem to be trustworthy enough.
Please add a duplicate file/picture finder

PLEASE add the ability to remove duplicate files easily. I have numerous files and going to each folder or subfolder and deleting the duplicates is EXTREMELY tedious and time consuming!
We need this feature! Why can't I add votes to this need?

Cloud Duplicate Finder web-app scans Onedrive online to find dupes.
OneDrive has created a duplicate file, with a " - Copy" filename suffix, for every file in My Documents and Pictures folders. This is taking about 40 GB (Yes, 40 Gigabytes) of space on my C: drive and also in OneDrive cloud storage. If these duplicates need to be there, then Microsoft needs to tell the users. If they can be deleted, then the users need an automated way to delete them.
Dear Onedrive team, I have a similar request as already mentioned: the option to remove duplicate photos.

For this purpose you can try out DuplicateFilesDeleter. which is very good in my opinion.
Really this is not a user friendly system. Even trying to organize into albums you can't tell what photos/videos you have/haven't put into the folder. BOO!!
