You can now edit text files on OneDrive on the web.

Please open a new card under OneDrive Mobile UserVoice for the Android ask. Thank you.

I also have Dropbox for personal files (OneDrive is for work), and it's trivially easy to edit text files in DropBox, it even let's you select which editor you want to use.

This smacks of MS' standard raison d'etre of 'we know best', i.e. 'users are stupid'!

Is there an android app that will open any unknown file extensions on OneDrive as a text file.. and also create a shortcut to it on the Android home screen?

open and edit txt-files should be possible directly with adroids onedrive app. because of missing this feature i cant use OneDrive bec i not will convert lot of small text files just for using OneDrive. so i will use altertative cloudservices as Long this feature in OneDrive issnt available.

It can be done. With a little extra effort...

Managing existing plain-text documents on Android mobile is possible at in Google Chrome mobile browser, as long as you start at the website in "Desktop" viewing mode. You can even manage sharing and view "Version history" on-the-fly.

Create a New Plain-Text Document: Go to in the Google Chrome "Desktop" browsing mode." Make sure you're already in the folder where you want the plain-text document to be created. Then, in the upper-left of the page, select the menu option labeled "New," and then select the dropdown menu item labeled "Plain text document." A new tab will open, but it needs to be switched to "Desktop" browsing mode. Once you have switched to "Desktop" browsing, the prompt to name the new document will be visible. Type a name for the new plain-text document and select "Create." The page will turn solid white, appearing to do nothing. Close this tab, and go back to the previous tab. You will now see the plain-text file with the name you just created.

Edit an Existing Plain-Text Document: Open the document you want to edit at the website, using Google Chrome's "Desktop" browsing mode. Once you have opened the plain-text document, in the upper-left of the page, select the menu option labeled "Open," and then select the menu item labeled "Open in Text Editor." The plain-text document will open in a new tab, and should already be in "Mobile" browsing mode (which it needs to be), and then ready to be managed.

Hello Microsoft. Can you please enable text in OneDrive PDF editor. Text is a basic feature of editing I believe so please tell the genius who disabled it to turn it back on. Thanks

Removing the ability to read plain text files past page 1 from Onedrive on Android has really hurt. I used to use it for recipes and field notes. Otherwise I like Onedrive. Now I have to look at Dropbox or Google.

I'm new to all this. I just started by project today and immediately ran into a road block with OneDrive. There is no sense in not given MS users the option to edit Plain text documents on Why even here, within this comment block, I was able to copy and paste! I can't understand why MS has to make a simple option do difficult.

An MS Notepad file with more than one page of data will not display page 2 onwards on an Android phone? All pages show on an iPhone! Please tell me I'm wrong.

On iPhone I am not given the option to upload .txt files to OneDrive anymore. Until a couple days ago I could, and did frequently. Now it just doesn’t even give the option, but only for txt files. I updated OneDrive still nothing. It gives the option when uploading a screenshot or pic but just not txt files. Seems like a recently developed glitch in the app since I was doing this 100’s of times previous to about 4/12/18. Hope you can fix this, not being able to upload a simple txt file is a huge hindrance in what I use this for. Doesn’t even give the option to convert txt to a PDF then upload as it used to do prior to this date as well. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
