It the Desktop App, it allows text and other inputs (photos, tables, etc) to be formatted into columns, like in a newspaper. This cannot be done in Word Online, nor do the files transferred into OneDrive already having columns keep them. Please have this feature added into the "Lay Out" tab on Word Online.
