Compress files and folders in the cloud.
Right now, if you have a file or a folder stored on OneDrive that you want compressed/stored as a single file, you have to download or sync locally, compress, and them erase the old data and upload the new one. This is time consuming.
Adding compressing to OneDrive.com would make it much more seamless.

6 years and no response? Or did I miss something? I mean Microsoft really isn't trying to compete are they? If it wasn't for the fact that everyone is so accustomed to the windows operating system, I don't think they'd be first choice for many people. It's not like Microsoft drive offers some great over the top cloud storage functionality, it's like they're not even trying.
Do that specifically for Albums, without impacting the resolution of the original files. (e.g. make an Album fit for web sharing)

I would go further and not only compress / uncompress files but also folders.
Support for different formats like 7z would be nice as well
This is great idea. Decompressing zip files on OneDrive would also be nice. It would be possible to upload large amount of files as singe zip and decompress after uploading (say you upload large family album).
agree that this feature is needed!!
i agree with you, still one drive was a cloud storage not cloud computing, we need many tools to improve usage, i figure google drive the best until now.

It's ridiculous that onedrive doesn't have this feature already.
