Mix of selective sync and smart files
Smart Files are awesome and needs to come back... But I also believe selective sync needs to also stay.
I have all my pictures on onedrive. all 1.5TB of it... I want all my pictures visible in file explorer, but not downloaded... smart files work here.
I want to archive old data... forever. but I don't want it synced, or require it to show in file explorer.... selective sync works here. It would be awesome if there was a "drop" location in file explorer where I could drop files to move it to my "vault / archive" on onedrive...
I believe more people would vote for this idea if they knew the correct vocab to land here. Its taken me hours to get here and I think that others entering into Win10 and OneDrive have the same question / issue but do not, like me, know how to put our question into words that will generate some response from Microsoft.
The company really needs to think about this. If they can solve this issue, they can sell more product (SurfacePro may come with limited HD space but users can purchase OneDrive space, and/or use effectively the space they receive with Office 360).
I am a bit baffled by it all ... if Microsoft could figure it out for my Android phone - I can see every OneDrive file, synced or not, why am I not able to do this on my PC.
It has been posed elsewhere that this site is "well monitored" so I hope that the issue gets resolved so that Win8.1 capabilities can be brought to Win10.
