Allow sorting of onedrive photo albums
Allow the new OneDrive photo albums to sorted alphabetically and the sort order fixed
Wanted to provide an update here: we are planning improvements for our photos experience; but don’t have a timetable to share just yet about this particular ask.
Concur, this is such a basic function how can they not have it? Rhetorical. Have been researching and apparently there should be a "Rearrange' function under "Sort' but not in my Onedrive. I have taken a load of site photos for work and need to put them in a logical order for the engineers to view but can't because MS don't believe in providing the customer what they want...

The lack of this feature has made me totally re-think my planned use of OneDrive for my photos and go elsewhere!
I have suggested that a sorting function be added to OneDrive several times before. Please write some code...that's all it takes.
It is rediculas that you cant't sort photo's the way you want
So after 3 years, we are still unable to sort? This is ridiculous!
Being able to sort uploaded photographs in OneDrive would be an extremely useful feature. No matter how I name albums etc. I am unable to display as I would wish. It would be ideal to sort by year/month if possible and allow the user to display albums in the order of their choice.

Yes, PLEASE add this feature! No cloud storage service that I know of does this, and it's something I REALLY, REALLY want. What's more, it seems like this is a thing that could be accomplished with a few lines of code.
I proposed this at a different site, and someone alleging to be a OneDrive developer called it "stupid" because "everyone should use EXIF". This is great IF YOU WANT TO DISPLAY THE PICTURES IN THE ORDER YOU TOOK THEM. But not everyone wants to do it that way. Two scenarios:
a) You go on a road trip to the beach. As soon as you arrive, you run out to the beach and take some photos. But then you realize you want some photos of the rental house, so you take those. When showing them to friends as an album, maybe you want to show the photos of the rental house FIRST, then show the pics of the beach.
b) You go a famous museum, and take some pictures of a famous painting. You then go to other parts of the museum and take photos there. On your way back, you notice that the crowd has thinned out quite a bit near the famous painting. So you take several (much better) photos of the painting. When it comes time to display them in a OneDrive album, you'd like all the photos of the "famous painting" to be together, not spread apart by EXIF date.
The first scenario happens to me all the time. I get to where I'm going and take pictures of the beach\casino\cruise ship, THEN I decide to take pictures of the hotel room\rental property\stateroom.
The second scenario happened to me at The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam with "The Nightwatch".
I can't possibly be the only person who doesn't take pictures in the specific order I want to display them later on. We NEED this feature in OneDrive!
Yes please. This is a must have feature.
You are requested to work on this to make this app more useful.
when will this function be available?
this is important for a lot of people, I suppose.
So many comments and votes - and no development since more than two years! ??
Come on Microsoft - this is obviously a big deficiency and you do not need a
"Customer Experience Improvement Program" to discover this!
Any update on when this will be implemented?
Are their target dates for delivering this feature? This is badly needed
Sorting of albums by name or date or a number of options is essential. Also the ability to arrange images within an album, too.

I too agree with the comments. My photo albums are never chronological but try to tell a story, and as the story develops during a trip, it is impossible to take the picture in the right order. E.g., when I've made a city trip I often order my photo's according to an imaginary walk I would do if I would visit the city again planning the trip knowing all I have learnt during the previous trip.

actually started sorting my photos only 2 years after using onedrive.
Started creating albums from newest to oldest.
Now when I look at the albums they are in the wrong order, oldest first.
How can this not be a feature !?
Also, how can "search by date" not be a feature !?

This is high priority as an Album needs to have a sort order. I need to show the photos in the right sequence.
There's nothing to think about. It just needs to be done.
Please make this a priority. The current sorting doesn't work well for things that have been scanned since the date scanned is meaningless in that context. Sorting by file name would be a good start. EXIF data field would be a nice addition later on.

I noticed that the eaction from the admin is dated October 2015. Any idea when you are done thinking about it? At this moment I am scanning my old photos and create digital albums for them. To be able to sort the albums would be very, very handy. I am a bit surprised it is not possible to be honest.
Photo folders already have this sort function, just copy that function to photo albums. Or when you create album from a folder, inherit the sort, not too difficult, but no, it always defaults to date taken.
