Add the ability to people tag
I would like the ability to tag faces on pictures that have been uploaded to OneDrive. Currently Windows Live Photo Gallery has this ability and is generally really good at guessing faces. Also, Facebook has facial recognition that is about 97% accurate.
My request is:
-add ability to group pictures by people, adding this as an option along the top row, where we currently only see "Photos Albums Tags" right now. Any untagged picture will show in 'untagged'
-add facial recognition to suggest tags for pictures
-make this facial recognition at least as good as that in Windows Live Photo Gallery
-add a grouping along the top for "Places" for our geotagged pictures.
Wanted to provide an update here: this is something we’re planning on doing, but don’t have a timeframe to share yet
I can see the feature of #tag in ios. But not on wp. I realized that ios version has more function than wp. Why why why?
I use a lot of facial tagging in pictures using ms photo gallery. I was hoping to be able to search using these tags through the search functionality in one drive. Will this be possible in the future?
People Tags are urgently needed to make OneDrive a viable storage alternative for photos. All major competitors currently have this functionality and more, as well as intelligent image search.
Add photo search by face (like Google Photos). Also add location tag to photos (like Apple Photos).
People tagging is a great feature. Nothing better than being able to easily sort photos when friends are over to those they are included in
Sure, auto tagging would be useful.
But still waiting for a response from the OneDrive team regarding the storage debacle. A stupid move that has seriously damaged our trust in Microsoft.
It would be nice if you could add Face Tagging Facebook like option and link it with your face recognition software that you use in the How-Old.net webpage, this way the OneDrive will automatically find all the pictures of that person and will tag it for you.
Just imagine how good would be to the people to get all the new and old pictures from one friend, family or love one auto-tagged.
Thanks for your time
I hope you people don't tag people that won't be tagged.
Maybe thinking about the movie "I am number four" would help.

People Tags were supported in early versions of OneDrive - why have they been dropped?
I support the request to bring them back, but please also include support for the Metadata Working Group's standard for image regions in photos (http://www.metadataworkinggroup.com/specs/).
This standard has already been adopted by Google’s Picasa, Adobe’s Lightroom and Photo Supreme. The latter will even read in Microsoft People Tags and use them to add the MWG equivalents into the metadata, as well as add the IPTC Extension “Person in Image” tags…
Photo Gallery is awesome for its several tagging possibilities. But it is very unfortunate that these tags are unavailable on OneDrive. I have a large database of pics and several people would like to search that over the web. Is there no third party software that makes that possible?
This should be added to the Photos app in Windows 10 - but of course be synced via OneDrive.

Thanks, please keep using Windows Live photo, iphoto and facebook for tagging; why would you want this in onedrive....just an opinion; onedrive is a storage and collaboration tool but tagging is usually for referencing existing share content with contacts in social sites to aware them they are tagged?? maybe Im missing something... overkill feature and waste of resources.... stick to local solutions or social sites for that.
I cant believe that people tags do not export from Windows Photo Gallery to onedrive. I would like to share loads of scanned photos with older members of the family so that can tag people. I can then pass the info down to my grand children. May be windows 10 will solve the issue?
Sorry for the moan - I am a windows fan really :) cheers
That would be great!!! I've already tagged all my photos with Windows Live Photo Gallery (took weeks). I'm trying to find cloud storage that will read that attribute as I'm not spending weeks to do it again.
Please, please, please add the project Oxford face recognition feature to onedrive!
i wish one drive could tag my photos automatically with people in my contact list
when i want photo's of someone i would just search their name
it'll be awesome
Now that Lightroom has added support for the People Tag, this would be phenomenal to have show up in OneDrive.
(This also begets the question of block/byte-level incremental sync for those of us with huge photo collections we want to be sharing on OneDrive...)
I'm working my way through 10k's of photos with WLPG and updating the facial tags (did some already with picasa but hey ho) but although WLPG says I have 4500+ tagged as "me" when i search for my name i'm only getting 197 results back... onedrive says its sync is working and no files left to sync...
Am I missing something as I'm worried that if I force a syn all my tags will be overwritten...
Anyone got any ideas?
I really like the People Tag feature in Windows Photo Gallery. I have spent considerable time ensuring that the People Tags have been added accurately to my photos. I do like that the People tag data is written to the XMP Metadata of the file. Seeing Microsoft Project Oxford - https://www.projectoxford.ai I am confident that this feature will improve on. That said, I do hope that in any future product the Face Recognition data is kept within the file.

This can be an extremely competitive advantage over GoogleDrive since they already have it. They can tag by email, so that the email's user can receive notification email which say "They are mentioned in a file", "Mr. Anderson mentioned them in a file and allowed you to edit/view it"...
