Allow search for files in the current folder instead of searching files in all folders onedrive.

Thanks for all the feedback here. The team is actively working on this for OneDrive for Business, and the capability will begin rolling out shortly. More to come soon!

Can't believe this is still an issue in 2021. To be able to search within a folder of a one terabyte storage...

Agree with request and voiced frustration about ignoring private users. At least - if you search 'everything' allow users to see in the search results where the various documents are stored.

The answer is heartbreaking, so what are we when MS don't treasure their O365 home users? Over the years MS is acquiring different products, but failed to integrate them as part of the family, like you eat an apple but your body don't digest it, and then **** the whole apple out =.=

It is essential that I can search OneDrive by folder - not the whole space. This is complete madness. I know which folders the files I need are sitting in, so why does the search function not allow me to limit the search to that folder and its downstream?

The only rational explanation for the absence of this feature is that OneDrive is based on SharePoint and SharePoint is trash.

I would like to highlight this again, as microsoft has now responded. Please give us the opportunity to search within single folders and while you're at it please also give us the option to search specific shared folders in the web version! Yet the global search bar on the web version does not include the shared folders at all. Therfore shared folders currently can't be searched at all by a member that this folder was shared with. This is essential in my opinion and I think these two functionalities can make or breake the future success of the one drive product. All other competitors have this option. Google, Dropbox etc. It is like driving a car without wheels. I will stick with One Drive for now hoping it will be implemented within the next 2-3 month. But if it isn't there is not option but to switch back to Google Drive as its the only fast accessible option including a stable mail account. I honor big investiments by gates into other topcis but please take some budget and put a few people specifically on this and fix this.. take this and tell this to your manager and you will be rewarded as it is so crucial to the one drive business model

This should not only be inplemented for business! It is essential for everyone. The personal and the family drive users will switch away from microsoft if this essential feature does not exist!!! You have to be able to search within a single folder and it is unthinkable to download everything locally. Needed on mobile and for web. Please while implementing this also think about the possiblitiy to search every specific folder. Not just the ones in my drive but also the shared folders that were shared with me. I need to be able to search the shared folders as well because the global search yet only considers files in my own drive for a search. So basically it is at the moment not possible to search files within a shared folder, which is a fundamental use of cloud storages.

It is ridiculous that I have to download my entire one drive to a hard drive (means I have to get onto a computer somewhere), then I can do a search?
I can't have each staff member download the data to their computers (if they even have one - most use ipads) in order to do a search? Would this be easier to do with a stone tablet? (pun intended).
Hmmmm. maybe onedrive wasn't the best choice after all.

Hello, this is really frustrating as we have personal folders plus corporate folders for clients and the search results are terribly messy - any confirmation as to when this update will happen?

Seriously, this suggestion is from 2015 and we still don't have this option ?

This is so painful not having this feature and DropBox has even implemented this functionality “Open in Folder”.
This thread is about web but we need this in mobile app as well, i.e. iOS.

microsoft is a company stuck in the 80s, and the only thing it can do is buying (or more often copy) other's ideas

Idea provided initally in September 2015, update last provided by OD indicating that this was in the works in December 2018.. Now August 2020... Any news to provide?
It's a little frustrating that this isn't already standard.

Dear Microsoft,
Please make searching within a Folder possible (From phone app) instead of only being able to search all of drive! That is a complete fail for business!

And more search options, like search by keywords, date, file type or combinations of them.

How about manually entered date ranges instead of a crappy slider with zero specificity?
Or the option to ONLY search file names? (this would speed up searches of large file collections significantly) A simple checkbox or radio button like:
[] Include file contents in search
[] Search file name onlyOr why do the sort-function-capable headers scroll away when I scroll through the results?
Anything I can do in Windows File Explorer searches, I should be able to do in OneDrive.
Why is the interface different from Windows 10 File Explorer at all?
