Wanted to provide an update here: this is something we’re planning on doing, but don’t have a timeframe to share yet
It's been two years already. Wee need this feature, allow us to use search parameters already, please!

How about manually entered date ranges instead of a crappy slider with zero specificity?
Or the option to ONLY search file names? (this would speed up searches of large file collections significantly) A simple checkbox or radio button like:
 Include file contents in search
 Search file name only
Or why do the sort-function-capable headers scroll away when I scroll through the results?
Anything I can do in Windows File Explorer searches, I should be able to do in OneDrive.
Why is the interface different from Windows 10 File Explorer at all?
Is anyone out there? Do these comments go anywhere?
Come on! Let's do this! A user MUST be able to control search parameters!
hello? Feature? Where are you feature? You're late
I have been building my entire cloud experience around Onedrive and without this feature I will have to revisit Dropbox or GoogleDrive. It absolutely defeats the purpose of cloud storage if you must sync massive amounts of files with your PC in order to be able to use your PC's search feature within folders.

It's also frustrating that I cannot search files modified or created within a certain time frame when I've forgotten the name of the file. This is basic stuff! Don;t move us forward into a new technology if you're just going to make it worse than the old technology!
It's been 2 years now and this is still not possible...
We just started using O365 at work. I was excited but then I realized that their online software is a joke!! I've used Google and Open Office in previous jobs and they are all free cut down versions of real software. They are missing vital functionality in all their online products and are not concerned with improving anything.
Wow! 4.5 years after the original request to have a VERY basic search function, and nothing.

I'm amazed this hasn't been implemented yet.
Why hasn't this been implemented yet? W/ Covid going on I am having to work from home and use the OneDrive for Business web app. How can a web service not allow you to parameterize your search by location? Large amounts of files / folders make the search function useless in a scenario when it should be at it's peak usefulness.

Any update on this? Jeez, its 2020, why can't we search by folder and order by type?
I completely agree. With so much data stored in OneDrive, it is important to be able to limit searches to specific folders - just common sense really. Please add this functionality please.
I agree that it is ridiculous that you can't search in one particular folder on OneDrive "Business" .... (I read somewhere, that you CAN search in one particular folder with the "Personal" version...??...)..
HOWEVER, the way I am getting around it is by doing my searches on the file folder that are downloaded/synched to my laptop. I just tried this, and it seems to be working the way I need it to... (knock on wood...). I'd be interested to know if that does what the rest of you are trying to do...
Just one more vote for getting making this request a reality... Any update Microsoft?? How do you not have a timeframe?? "Hello", are you there???
Microsoft became tribble. you will find it when you call them for support too.
Thinking about it for 3+ years, planning it for 1+, what up? Hopefully mentioned below, there is a hack for limiting search to just OneDrive For Business Files: Users can go to https://[TENANT].sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx
and use this query: [QueryTerm] site:https://[TENANT]-my.sharepoint.com/personal/[USERNAME]/
September agenda site:https://acme-my.sharepoint.com/personal/jane_doe_acme_com/
For the life of Bill Gates, fix this!
this is a big inconvenience? ANy workaround.
This is here since 2015!!!
You can't specify the folder and you can't sort the files by date...
