Sharing between OneDrive Personal and OneDrive for Business
One should be able to share a file from a OneDrive Personal Account to a OneDrive for Business Account.
Right now, the shared file doesn't appear in the receivers Business Account, but only in the Personal Account. But that is useless for people using Business primarily.
A private person owns a OneDrive Personal Account. He/She wants to share project files to a company, which will then work with these files. Sadly the files don't appear in the OneDrive for Business Account of the employee of the company, but they appear in the employees personal Account and mix up with his family pictures, music, whatever. If the company doesnt allow their employees to use their personal accounts when they are on the job, the employee wont be able to do the project and the company would have to reject the customer.
We agree 100% with the suggestion and are exploring ways to enable this. This represents a significant amount of engineering work hence we don’t have a schedule to share yet.
But now I'm even more frustrated that this issue has been around for FOUR years, it's one of the TOP 3 issues on User Voice, and all the GPM is doing is "thinking about it." That's incredibly disappointing. It is one of the highest voted items right now. How could this not be planned yet? Why isn't it on the roadmap yet? Microsoft has some of the best engineers in the world, you should be able to do this. What's obvious is that you aren't listening to the 200+ customers who cared enough to comment on the issue. Again, the user experience is horrible.
First, it doesn't make sense why I, as a consumer, am not allowed to share files to Onedrive Business users. Second, the user experience is awful. Rather than notify me that I'm not allowed to share with Onedrive Business accounts, it just shows up as an error. Then, when I try to open the file from my Onedrive business account, it doesn't allow me to work with the document in my account and gives an error when I try to log in.
There is something very very wrong with the user experience for this use case, whether the functionality is possible or not. I would never have this problem on Google Drive.

Just stumbled across this issue today. A client of mine who only has a personal account has shared a folder...which I cannot see from my business account.
I assumed one of us was doing something wrong. Now I see that this is a "feature" and that people have been asking for it to be resolved for 4 years.
This is inexcusable, MS. Please sort it out. At least give us a workaround.
Seria importante que la herramienta cuente esta opción, ya que google drive lo tiene desde el inicio. Lamentable no poder tener esto disponible.

Wow unbelievable. What a major oversight by Microsoft. Four years later and still no implementation.

"This represents a significant amount of engineering work" seems to mean "we messed up really badly and our design isn't sustainable." It's scary how bad Microsoft seems to be at software.
Wow. Who thought this was a good idea? Please change asap. Let me decide if I want to share business with personal, not MS.
I use Onedrive Business for commercial issues and educational activities I would like to share educational activities with my students. The problem is, I cannot demand that they have paid bills. It would be very good if they could download it on "their" OneDrive and update directly on the PC.
Are you serious, you can't share files from business to personal?????????
who the **** made that rule, what a waste of time, by by onedrive

No wonder I can never figure out where the files are... they are suddenly in my OneDrive personal account - with the same exact email address as my OD4B account.
Oy vey! This does not work for business.

I agree. Otherwise I will consider going to Google Suite. This makes paying this kind of money pointless. Microsoft, get it right!
This is a deal breaker. I will cancel the 2nd subscription. Easy sharing and including in everyone's OneDrive is key. You are actually punishing paying subscribers. Not solved after 4 (!!!) years despite over 2000 votes. I am so angry and disappointed about this, you have no idea. I don't like Google Drive, but at least it works. Shame on MS for missing such core feature and driving loyal customers to the competitor.

Goodbye Microsoft. After all these years of waiting we have decided to use Google G-Suite. Sharing files within the company and with clients is essential in a modern working environment. Unfortunately you seem to think different about this.
4 years later and still thinking about it. Well done MS.
Having recently upgraded from MS Home Office to MS Office Professional, via an approved intermediary, I have found that sharing doesn't work between two paid accounts either where one is a Personal Account and one is a Business Account. I have several shares with other Home Office OneDrive users with whom I can't now work in the way we have been doing for a couple of years now. Microsoft really do need to sort this issue out.
Not having this feature means in practice: office business and personal users are forced back to use Dropbox and Google. I think nobody really wants this.
"Thinking about it" since November 2016 - have you come to a conlusion after four years of thinking ? Customers would like to know the conclusion in order to make an informed decision which software package to use - or not to use in future.

I agree, there should be away of sharing files between personal and business account. that will save so much hassle of downloading files every time and mixing up the file versions !
during the Microsoft Teams Training we asked about the collaboration with external vendors who do not have paid accounts and was assured there wouldn't be a problem. They couldn't prove it during the training and said they would get back to us.
I guess this is why they never got back to us.
We have an independent contractor that we need to share files with. The contractor has onedrive - personal and is unable to see our shared folder. Microsoft would add this feature if they at all cared about real-world productivity.

I would definitely need this feature in order to link shared folders from a personal account in my business account!
