Allow shared folders to be stored within sub folders
The new feature that allows shared folders to be synced on the desktop is awesome.
however, shared folders are added to the root of the OneDrive folder and cannot be nested into the file structure. That is an issue : the root folder will soon be full of random shared folder. Allow us to store them where they belong ! Think of project-related stuff, pictures that you want to store in your "summer 2015" folder,...
Google Drive implementation is fine : you get an overview of all shared folders on the website ("shared with me" tab) and you can nest these folders in your filestructure the way it best suits you - both on the website and locally.
We’re looking at two related pieces of this:
1) For OneDrive for Business, enable shared folders to be added to the root of the OneDrive folder at all (like in OneDrive Personal).
2) For OneDrive across business and personal, enable shared folders to be placed into subfolders.
We appreciate your patience; this is significant engineering work given the architecture of the products and our diverse customer base, spanning individuals to small businesses to multi-national enterprises to government agencies. We aim to address this while maintaining our industry-leading security, privacy, and compliance commitments.
Thank you for the continued feedback.

Yes, this is a must for my team for school projects or other groups that I can move folders that collaborators make into a universal order that works with my onedrive layout.
5 pages of files shared with me. Been using OneDrive for over a year now and there has not been any improvement to organizing the "shared with me" view.
At present it is nearly useless. Can't even do a search in the view.
This is a must!
But on the other hand thank MS for finally allowing us to sync shared (editor rights) folders; it is a good start to develop OneDrive. From the viewpoint of serious windows users OneDrive is maybe the most important part of Windows. Those people do not care so much about beautiful icons, or idiotíc ideas like building automatic albums, they want to have tools for communication and collaboration.
- make a transparent directory structure for synchronized shared folders (e.g. mainfolder for owner...)
- bring the possiblity to sync all types of folders in OneDrive (also read only ones)
- bring back placeholders for 'online only' folders/files in OneDrive
- do not sync whole file when only tag information has changed (large media files)
This would be really sexy!
Then you can call this Windows 66!
I've confirmed that if a shared folder is moved into a subfolder from Explorer, it creates a COPY of the contents: http://onedrive.uservoice.com/forums/262982-onedrive/suggestions/9186343-fix-the-shared-folder-duplication-bug
This buggy behaviour makes even more important allowing shared folders in subfolders.

The new feature to add shared folders is great!
But we absolutely need the ability to move them into a subfolder.
Thats a ciritcal one!
I guess many lambda users WILL move the shared folder into a sub-folder, but will not be aware that they actually created a copy which is not synced anymore with the people who shared it with them. Very confusing...
Thanks for the note about renaming. That'll help, but is it also possible to move into a sub-folder? It could get a little hard to manage with 10+ users folders.

It's a shame that this feature is not available here from the beginning. This is the last blocker for me to completely switch over to OneDrive from DropBox.
only update two devices recently loged on today
Hi Jason, thanks for your reactivity ! I hope the request will make its way to the coder's hands ;)
Hi Michiel - Just so you know, each person can independently rename the shared folder, and the name change is not pushed to other users.

Yes, will get very cluttered very quickly without this.

Also, every participant of the shared folder should be able to rename the root of the shared folder without the name change being pushed to the others.
this would be really, really helpful. Not using the syncing feature now because it would blow up my entire organizational structure, but if I could place folders where they belong would fix all the issues.
So, I don't know if the issue is still get fixed ? ??? its frustrating Onedrive doesn't give you option to organize shared folders and sharepoint which allows you will not let you attach a file from to email from sharepoint document library there is no direct option yet. so hopefully one of them start working soon.

This one of the most frustrating things about One Drive and one of the reasons I will using Google Drive for the foreseeable future. Microsoft need to address this or One Drive will be dead in the water.

Here's why this feature is important - my boss has taken this to the extreme:
Shared with Me is currently like a Facebook feed with no filters. It is populated by an unending stream of documents shared at the whim of others, with no ability to filter them. My boss is so irritated by it, that he has started telling people to remove his name from shared documents. So, there you go. Until this is fixed, I and my coworkers will be prevented from using OneDrive's sharing features, because my boss is put off by the clutter.
@Casey Penk: can you give us any update on Progress about sync shared OneDrive files? Because Jason Moore does not give any update although he has promised to give update.
any updates on this?
And I will give you all my available votes until this is implemented.
