Allow shared folders to be stored within sub folders
The new feature that allows shared folders to be synced on the desktop is awesome.
however, shared folders are added to the root of the OneDrive folder and cannot be nested into the file structure. That is an issue : the root folder will soon be full of random shared folder. Allow us to store them where they belong ! Think of project-related stuff, pictures that you want to store in your "summer 2015" folder,...
Google Drive implementation is fine : you get an overview of all shared folders on the website ("shared with me" tab) and you can nest these folders in your filestructure the way it best suits you - both on the website and locally.
We’re looking at two related pieces of this:
1) For OneDrive for Business, enable shared folders to be added to the root of the OneDrive folder at all (like in OneDrive Personal).
2) For OneDrive across business and personal, enable shared folders to be placed into subfolders.
We appreciate your patience; this is significant engineering work given the architecture of the products and our diverse customer base, spanning individuals to small businesses to multi-national enterprises to government agencies. We aim to address this while maintaining our industry-leading security, privacy, and compliance commitments.
Thank you for the continued feedback.
So, I don't know if the issue is still get fixed ? ??? its frustrating Onedrive doesn't give you option to organize shared folders and sharepoint which allows you will not let you attach a file from to email from sharepoint document library there is no direct option yet. so hopefully one of them start working soon.

This one of the most frustrating things about One Drive and one of the reasons I will using Google Drive for the foreseeable future. Microsoft need to address this or One Drive will be dead in the water.

Here's why this feature is important - my boss has taken this to the extreme:
Shared with Me is currently like a Facebook feed with no filters. It is populated by an unending stream of documents shared at the whim of others, with no ability to filter them. My boss is so irritated by it, that he has started telling people to remove his name from shared documents. So, there you go. Until this is fixed, I and my coworkers will be prevented from using OneDrive's sharing features, because my boss is put off by the clutter.
@Casey Penk: can you give us any update on Progress about sync shared OneDrive files? Because Jason Moore does not give any update although he has promised to give update.
any updates on this?
And I will give you all my available votes until this is implemented.
Yes this is big, can we have the same library feature available to Windows 7 to organize libraries, I want the option of OneDrive to automatically organize my picture library by months, year, camera, location or other metadata, it would let me quickly find one photo in my collection, I have over 2000 photos and videos right now. It would also help speedup and create slideshows of only the photos I want.
It would be nice to organise the files where folders shows on top and file underneath. Also i think what we need is that each folder has its own views. For example, for my photos folder i would like them in thumbnails, but my document folder i would like to see them as a list view. Thus, having separate views for each folder would be nice.
Agreed. This is a much needed feature, especially for working with files on the iPad and moving documents from a non shared file to a shared file. Currently, this is only possible through a difficult work around

Or at least allow me to delete something that has been shared with me. I have documents sitting in a long list that date back years because there is no way to organize, move or delete files that have been shared with me.
I'd like the same!! I'd like to be able to move files that have been shared with me into my own folders and organize in my own manner while still having them update and sync with my local onedrive folder whenever someone edits them.
A general purpose solution could be implement something like links in a filesystem, both for OneDrive and OneDrive for business. That would allow maximum flexibility in arranging the files and folders.
"When any file is shared with me, it is seen in the shared folder but please give an option to take the file/folder from shared category to the general category for better organizing"
Please, allow select the name of the folder to be displayed from the general category (some users set very compliated or very simple names, and I would like use my own naming convention)
If you need an example, check out Google Drive; if something is shared with you, you're allowed to organize the pointer to that shared file in your own Drive, keeping things organized. OneDrive.com merely shows you a massive list of things shared with you with no possible way to organize it.
this is about syncing shared OneDrive Folders. idea already in other place - >1800 votes

I was thinking of the same thing.. Here's an explanation of the request..
I get a lot of confirmation emails, they may not be required after month or so. But its always nice to keep track and have a backup without cluttering your inbox.
It would be nice to save off some messages as a '.msg' to OneDrive. We will get a chance to rename it accurately*(with Item/book Name), make a backup and clean up the inbox.

Collaboration is the greatest thing there is!
So why can't I organize the files och folders that my friends have shared with me?
