OneDrive for Business
Please extend the limitation of file paths for the sync on OneDrive for Business

We understand that file name paths are able to have maximum 400 characters on SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business as below information mention.

Title: Restrictions and limitations when you sync files and folders
In SharePoint Online, file name paths can have up to 400 characters. The limit may be less than 400 characters in some scenarios, especially if you have a very long URL path for the library.

However, double byte letters are encoded by the browser and one Japanese character will be calculated as 9 single byte characters when we open Office files via Office Online or Office client. This result that 400 characters limit is exceed easily and cause issue to sync those files.

For improvement usability to users who use double byte letters, we would like you to increase the maximum letters for paths on SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business.

Thank you for your considerations.

n order to be able to seamlessly migrate from on-prem file shares to OneDrive, the length needs extended significantly. Too many migration jobs fail due with manual intervention requiring a lot of time and effort. Our migration project is now on hold as it requires too much effort.
